An interesting historical site that has been turned into a cultural location with museums, galleries, and performance. The view from the top of the tower is worth the climb.

The castle is nice, even if not astonishing. It is not a castle in a proper sense, since it has been restructured in many circumstances and is now more a serie if restaurants, shops and other turistic attractions. If you have good legs it may be' nice to climb to the castle up on the hill, otherwise you may take... More

It's quite an easy climb up to the castle, and it's worth it. Sure, this is not the prettiest castle I've ever seen, but I well like the idea how it's put into everyday use and is filled with life. The views are also nice - though I was surprised to see that Ljubljana is much more charming from ground... More

We enjoyed the funicular ride to the top and had fun touring the castle and the museums. Certainly worth the visit, if only for the views.

We went on a rainy day which was perfect way to pass the afternoon. The national geographic photo exhibit was excellent. The rest was interesting but only for rainy day.

Probably one of the must see locations in Ljubljana and well worth a visit. Even if you're not that interested in castles, the ride up on the funicular is an experience and then the climb up the observation tower for some of the best views of the city. There is plenty more to see and do while there and a... More

Recently renovated, and a nice place to spend an hour or two. The historical museum is especially interesting. Furthermore, the view from the top of the tower is magnificent, making it a must-see if you are in Ljubljana. It is not a small castle, so it is a pity however that some parts of the castle are not used for... More

Take one ruined castle, add EU funding, and hey presto! A unique visitor's experience, combined with multiple dining options.

You can opt to take a funicular tram or walk to the Castello di Ljubljana. I opted to walk up, which was a fairly comfortable climb. The views from the top were quite amazing. Seeing that Ljubljana is a small city, you get a balanced mix of nature and the pretty architecture of the Slovenian capital. For a reasonable entrance... More

From outside it looks like a great citadel but inside it looks like a commercial mall in a fancy setting. The renovation is too modern (a big glass building added to the stone wall!), even the cobbled stones. We climbed on the south side and at least this takes you to visit the old town and descended by the north... More
