I didn't actually go inside the church, but I can tell you it's something you will notice every time you walk through central Old Town Ljubljana. The church was originally painted red to be a dominant force in the city, but over time, the red faded into the current day salmon pink. The city liked it, so it's stayed that... More

Inside is just as much a surprise as the pink/salmon exterior. We were fortunate to see a wedding taking place. It gave meaning to the spirituality of the Church. Amazing to imagine the time, money and work required so many years ago to create such a beautiful sanctuary.

This lovely red-colored structure is indicative of the Franciscan order and the church is gorgeously decorated. It was built in mid-XVII Century. The main altar, executed by Francesco Robba, an Italian who came to visit, fell in love with a local and stayed to build some of their most attractive altar artwork, is remarkable. Unfortunately, I found myself in at... More

The Franciskanska Cerkev is most definitely the most interesting attraction in Ljubljana. It's pink facade is definitely an icon of Ljubljana, Slovenia. The colour brings a charming splash of "la vie en rose" to the graceful city. The attraction is quite lovely and unforgettably beautiful. When i hear the word "Ljubljana" an image of the pleasant looking church comes to... More

Even though it is in the town center, which is often crowded and noisy, the church is a very quiet and peaceful place. It has it's own atmosphere and is worth visiting, especially if you like frescoes.

Beautiful church, with a lovely pink hue on the outside and gorgeous paintings and frescoes on the inside. The altar is a special highlight, and you are given great access to it and the chapels behind it. Be aware the church shuts from 12-3!

You cannot fail to spot this salmon-pink church as it provides an attractive backdrop to Preseren Trg at the end of the Triple bridge. The inside is rather dark, but has 6 small side altars and beautiful frescoes on the ceiling. My daughters wanted to see the glass fronted coffin containing the mummified remains of St Deodatus, but were disappointed... More

... during the day, it's just another church on the outside but beautiful in the inside. with the lighting effect at night, it blends nicely with the 3 bridges and the presernov square.

Visited this church and what beauty it is! Stunning paintings and spent a while walking round here. They were setting up while we were in there to do some filming inside here..Excellent back drop for what ever they were doing :)

The red painted exterior and the cream coloured columns provide a fine, though rather understated, backdrop to the main Preseren Square, though the trees at the front beside the steps look a bit incongruous and prevent a complete view of the church. The inside is well worth a short look for the painted ceiling and walls and the altar. Note... More
