Easy access from the highway. Parking is free. Rout 1. was 1,5 hour, with an english/slovenian speaking tour guide. Occasionally the guide stopped and spoke 10 minutes. At the end of the queue, we did not hear nothing. It was so boring. And the cave was poorly lit, the stalagmites hardly seemed. The huge canyon with the bridge was breathtaking.... More

Yesterday we took a day trip to visit the cave. It was 1 and 1/2 hour train trip and 10 minutes bus to the cave. Because it was Sunday, you could buy discount round trip train ticket with free bus to the cave . I had visited many caves around the world. It was the best so far because the... More

I have now toured both Skocjan and Postojnska caves and i prefer Skocjan. yes, it was a more strenuous trek - but far more exciting since the river flows through the cave giving you an excited feeling. the path was well lit and safe as we toured. our english speaking tour guide was very knowledgable and friendly. our group was... Skocjan Caves is an INCREDIBLE place to visit. Once you arrive in the portion where the river is located, you will feel like you are on a movie set. It's hard to describe - it just feels like something out of "Lord of the Rings." I did not feel that this was a hard or strenuous climb - there were... More

There was a lot of construction going on when we went this week so we entered the caves through the back instead of the front tunnel. (I had attempted to see these caves last year but long story short got only as far as the tunnel entrance.) We could not find the ticket entrance behind all the construction, and the... More

These caves were amazing to see. The only complaint was that the guide and tour itself felt very rushed. It would have been nice to explore the caves on your own or just take your time more but it is a full guided pathway system. However that does not take away from the 'majesticness' of the caves. Make sure to... More

Though there are lot of reviewers recommended this cave, we think you could skip this one without regret. We chose the route one (1 1/2 hr) which included the waterfall. At the time we went, there were 2 guides. One for local and the other one was English speaking. There was about ten min walk to the entrance of the... More

Brilliant trip. Went on the classic tour- the guide spoke in English and Italian. Free car parking. Small, but functional restaurant. Check out the viewpoint if you're trying to kill time before the trip (see photo caption for directions).

Great cave with huge canyon inside. Very similar place to "Moria" from Lord of the Rings. Great adventure. There lives the animal proteus anguinus in this cave (it can survive for more than 100 years). One can see him at the end of the route in the aquarium. I was there in Aug 2008.

We caught the train to Divaca, and from the station there was a free bus taking us directly to the caves. We opted for tours 1 and 2. The 2nd cave was as good as the first in my opinion. The guide was very knowledgable and spoke clearly and loudly in excellent English. He also spoke in Italian for the... More
