Although I had read various reviews and articles proclaiming the beauty of this lake I was still stunned when it first came into view. Granted, we were fortunate with nice bright weather, but when we saw the sparkling water, with the mountains beyond and a thick ribbon of cloud floating across the middle of the mountains like a silk scarf... If you visit Gorenjska region in Slovenia and go to Bled lake, than you have take just half of hour more drive to Bohinj lake. There are less people if you want peace, very clean water for swimming and very nice places around the lake to visit. Also the mountains and some good traditional restaurants.

This is a very beautiful quiet lake. Not as noisy as Garda in Italy. Very clean lake. Fantastics views on the lake and mountains. We took a boat trip on the lake and we did trekking and swimming. All was very enjoyable. Water was cold and very clean. Must see...

This is really one of the most stunning lakes that I've ever seen. Peaceful, enjoyable and breathtaking. You can either just walk around the lake (it is very easy to access its many small beaches) or you can decide to rent a boat. You will definitely NOT regret it. It costs 15 euros to rent a boat for an hour.... More

This lake is very different in character from Lake Bled. It appears larger and more remote with the water having little of the characteristic turquoise that Lake Bled has. We were staying at Bohinja Bistrica and caught the bus (25minute ride) to the far end of the lake at Ulcinj to take the well signed path up to the waterfall.... More

Less popular than its nearby cousin Lake Bled, Lake Bohinj is a quieter and more peaceful alternative. We went hiking to the waterfall up at the end of the lake and then went swimming in the cool waters down by the other end. There are various water sports that can be tried and we saw all sorts of people kayaking... More

It is a magnificent lake surrounded with the Julian Alps. This lake has crystal clear waters and it has some fine scenery. The church found near the lake is also worth visiting since it is centuries old and it has interesting frescoes.

Even though it was raining we decide to boat trips on Lake Bohinj. View from the boat around the area of Lake Bohinj is wonderful for 10,50 EUR per person for both directions for children 4 years old free

Lake Bohinj is super clean, allows no motor boats and is generally a nice setting. We swam the length of the lake (4.4km) as part of a swimtrek tour and enjoyed every minute. Lots of nice cafes and restaurants plus activities such as canoeing and climbing. Cable car up the mountain side gives good views, apparently the steepest in europe... More
