About
The Chopin Salon was the first place in Warsaw where you could experience regular live concerts featuring the music of Poland’s greatest composer, Frederic Chopin. Every day since June of 2013 to this day, in an exclusive, intimate concert hall, located in the heart of Warsaw at Smolna 14, participants have the opportunity to hear the music of Frederic Chopin and other great composers, performed by wonderfully talented, world-class musicians. The concerts are often accompanied by talks or exhibits, and guests are offered a glass of fine wine.

Poles, Norwegian, Italian, American and us were all welcomed into a room with a large Steinway piano. A glass of wine and a slice of home made cake later and we were ready to receive the South Korean graduate of the Chopin University. After the 45 minute recital we were all applauding vigorously. This really was the highlight of our visit to Warsaw. Go, in fact GO! The staff are great, the music is great and it's well worth going for a taste of Poland.

This is a not to be missed experience in Warsaw!! We visited the concerts 2 of the 3 nights we had in Warsaw and found it an fabulous combination of world class musician playing Chopin, warm and inviting owners/ hosts serving wine and desert, and candle light atmosphere of a salon. The intimacy of this combination is a true gem. It has the extra benefit of meeting other travelers who are also marveling in a delightful and memorable evening as well.

We found this wonderful gem through Tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed! :)

The setting is a lounge/salon with about 15 chairs and a Steinway piano. I believe the musicians/singers vary by evening and at our Saturday performance, we were lucky enough to experience a beautiful soprano and exceptional pianist playing a range of pieces from Chopin through to Bernstein and even contemporary Polish compositions! Really outstanding talents!

Following the performance we had some divine traditional cake and a glass of wine. At any price, this would be an amazing evening's entertainment and for 50 zloty per person, this is a must see for visitors to Warsaw.

Native son Fryderyk Chopin is one of the non-war facets of Warsaw that is an absolute must. There are several attractions based on the 19th century composer including a Chopin Museum, a monument to the man in Łazienki Park, and Chopin concerts in a number of settings.

While Chopin was born in Żelazowa Wola, a small village outside the town of Sochaczew about 45 kilometers west of Warsaw, the date of his birth is either Feb. 22 or March 1, 1810. As a result, the annual celebration of his birth has become what one local called “the world’s longest birthday party.”

In Warsaw during this period, I went to Chopin Salon for a concert of his music. I would describe the Salon as the most intimate concert venue I have ever experienced.

The Salon is actually a room in a bed and breakfast called the B&B Boutique, located near the city’s trendy Nowy Swiat area. Concerts are held daily for an admission fee of 50 złoty (about US$15), which includes a glass of wine. Up to 15 guests can listen to the composer’s music as performed by volunteer students or recent graduates of one of the area’s music conservatories, “As long as they’re talented,” one of the musicians told me after the performance.

Concerts at the Chopin Salon begin at 7:30 every evening and run about 45 minutes. Well worth seeking out this small B&B and its intimate Chopin venue.

I visited in February 2015 for one of the daily concerts held at 7:30. It was all Chopin and the programme included a nocturne, 2 etudes, a scherzo, a few mazurkas and a polonaise. The concert setting was very intimate, you could literally hear the pianist breathing. The owner was also very welcoming and enthusiastic, a really good job done in organizing the concerts.

For only 50 zloty you get to enjoy a 45 minute concert to go with wine and cakes, are you kidding me? Definitely recommended to any music lover!

The only downside was that the location took a bit of time to find.

On 29th December 2014 my wife and I saw the beautiful and talented Aleksandra Bobrowska playing the piano. The Hour long recital was so moving and stunning to watch. Aleksandra played all of it with her eyes closed with incredible passion. It was obvious she was completely absorbed with the lovely music she was playing for us. I was moved to the point of tears listening to her play. I honestly can't express how wonderful this hour long performance was. We loved it so much that we booked again for another performer to play the next evening but unfortunately it was cancelled at the last moment as the pianist was involved in a car accident on her way to us.(we were informed that there were no injuries thank goodness). If you like your classical music then whatever you do don't miss this.

Dear Guest, Thank you for visiting us. Chopin Salon is very new to compere with well established cultural institutions, however is trying to offer live piano music every evening. It is not easy. Warsaw is not yet considered by visitors as a city of music. With guests like you our mission will be fulfilled and Warsaw WILL BE one day a CITY OF MUSIC. Thank you once more and welcome again Best regards

I would give this a miss. Just buy a book on Chopin and some music... and enjoy in a local cafe.

This is a museum that has really stretched the point!

I expected to hear more Chopin!

Chopin's Family Drawing Room (a.k.a. Chopin Parlor or Salonik Chopinow) is the family room where Chopin used to unveil his new compositions to his family and close friends, including his famous piano concertos F minor and E minor. To visit this room, you can take a bus (e.g. # 100, 116, 175, 178, 180, 195, 222) to University of Warsaw stop. Enter a palace ground through a wide gate with two pillars right across the street from the entrance to the university. As you are about to enter the gate, you will see a white free standing sign board on the left side with writings "Salonik Chopinow - The Chopin Family Drawing Room." As you walk straight ahead about 30 ~ 50 meters, you will see a door of a yellowish building on the left side. Enter the building, walk 3 flights up (2nd floor). Then turn left, and walk straight ahead to the room at then end, which is Chopin Family Drawing Room. Don't expect any clear sign for the room, and don't expect a colorful room. It is a modest room with an attendant sitting inside the room. You will be asked to pay a small fee (3 PLN - about 1 US Dollar). After paying the fee, you can walk around the room. The attendant will give you a sheet of paper describing the background of the family room, and will start playing recorded Chopin music such as Chopin's E minor or F minor piano concerto for you. You take camera pictures of the room if you wish. There are portraits on the wall, and Chopin's piano there. You can imagine yourself being surrounded by Chopin's family and friends, listening to Chopin's performance of the concerto. After viewing this room, you can go downstairs, and go back to the street. Then, turn right, walk toward the a church on the right side, The Holy Cross Church, where Chopin's heart is preserved in a white column in the middle of the sanctuary. By the way, you will see black granite street bench on the way near the church. Look for a small white button. Press the button. Then, you will hear Chopin piece such as Minute Waltz coming from the hidden speaker of the bench.

I did some research on Chopin piano concert and landed on this one with no regrets. We arrived a little early and grabbed the best seats possible. Such a beautiful performance and just the right vibes with charm and intimacy. The glass of sparkling wine and apple tart was a bonus. Highly recommended!
