On Dec. 6, the lights on the large Christmas tree were turned on. The start of the illumination marks the opening of the Christmas season.

Did you know that this square has been totally rebuilt (as much of Warsaw) according to old paintings? It makes this grand setting even more spectacular when you know that all of it had been destroyed in WWII and perfectly reconstructed under truly difficult circumstances of post-war Poland. You will always like to come back when you explore the city... More

It was very cold, but it was beautiful! We have -8 C today.... The square is easiyl accessible, and from it you have a panorama of the Royal Palace, the Zygmunt Column, and several churches, such as the Cathedral of St. John. I strongly recommend to go "up" the viewing tower for a spectacular view of the Warsaw Old City.

You can have a beautiful panorama of the city! You can buy souvenirs, or just admire the castle and its surroundings.

You should begin your Old Town walk from this place. Picturesque view and people in historical costumes are nice part of this place.

Nice square to have a wander around and people watch. Try the "market" near the square for the mulled wine and gifts. Good place to start exploring Warsaw "old" town.

Great place to meet up with friends and have a stroll around the Old Town. The setting is really memorable and you have to keep reminding yourself that the place was devastated in 1944 and completely rebuilt to the original design.

Great photo area, lots of people. This square is after the main street area, and leads right into old town.

My husband and I walked all around the Old Town and just loved stopping here to see all the street performers. The square is beautiful and very clean, with lots to see.
