What a magnificent square, crowned by the royal castle on one side, framed by the lovely medieval looking old town and walls on the other, opening up to the majestic "royal route" and overlooking part of the city down below, the river and Praga on the other bank. Beautiful!

When you come to Warsaw firstly you must go there. A fairy square from the postcards, the Old Town of the city.

£3 in a taxi from the station, dont even think about walking it! Its got great facades, arcitecture and its home to the royal castle (which is closed on mondays). It is also the home to free walking tours and 1030am and 2pm, at sigismunds column. Get some good picture of the square from the white tower to the right... More

Even if it is rebuilt after WW2, the Castle square is the centre of the Old town and a meeting point! The architecture is admirable and the buildings are rebuilt in an exceptional detail. From there you can start your tour in Old town and visit the Royal Castle.

It is one of the favorite spots at the beginning or the very end of the tour along the Royal Route. The gross external architecture of the castle stands in contrast to the interior with refined decor, subtle trim and thin gold leaf decorations The World War II almost completely ruined castle, and was restored. The reconstruction of the interior... More

You have the Castle and the large columnar statue of the King. I preferred Old Town Square for the architecture just a couple blocks to the north. Easy enough to see both though.
