If you visit the Tumski Island to see either the church or any of the museums, be sure to get the location-based audio guide from the Brama Poznania museum - or actually from the Lock Building. even when you walk the streets or inside the church, it will talk about the specific place you are at, and there is a... It's worth to take a trip to Tumski (Domus) islad. Not so impressive like in Wroclaw, but still it is nice to go to another side of the river and to see impresiive churches - and to look from another, historical as well, perspective into city.

This church was the most important for me to visit during my time in Poznan. I can´t understand how they could build something like that 1000 years ago, just amazing. The church is very nice inside, and different to other large churces i´ve visited. The area is peacefull and not to far from the city centre, I walked.

you can walk around the island with the beautiful cathedral (oldest in Poland) and just forget that you are in the city. it is very quiet and especially in summer everything is green and you can relax next to the river. there are different museums around the cathedral which are very interesting and inform you about the history of Poland... In October 2013 there was a lot of building work going on so was not the serene atmosphere I would have expected. You also had to watch out for cars zooming across the cobbled courtyards! Also it probably didn't help that we arrived on a Monday and all museums etc. were closed so all we could do was wander in... More

We had a very pleasant evening on the Tumski island. Charming and cosy, great for romantic walk, it's really taking you to the another age. When the twilight comes, the lamplighter is walking all over the place and lights the lanterns. Definetly a place to see..

I read about this place being the birth place of Poland and host to the oldest cathedral in Poland. From an architectural point of view, the cathedral is average (the cathedral near the old town square is far more impressive). The island itself has potential but there is very little to do here. It would be very tranquil but for... More

I really thought this was a great little attraction but I was extremely disappointed after I paid for what I thought was to go into the towers that I instead was pointed to go to the Crypt... This is in a perfect location for tourists to view the whole city if they would just allow it! Poznan is a great... More

Cathedral island is a quiet contemplative place to wander and relax away from thesis square and busy streets. Certainly worth a visit to see the churches and relax.

Ostrow Tumski is an island between two rivers Warta and Cybina. It's is a place where polish history began. You can visit there the Archcathedral of St.Peter and St.Paul from the 10th century and see the tombs of the first prince Mieszko I and King Boleslaus the Brave of Poland, and many other. After you can walk to a small but... More
