This building isn't called the Lodz Opera House. Its Polish name is Teatr Wielki which translates as Great or Grand Theatre. Its true opera and ballet are performed here but that does not mean thats what its called. A small incidental but watch for the music occasionally played along with the fountains on the large square (Plac Dabrowskiego).

Saw two ballet performances here in June. Both excellent. Very comfortable seating and the interior of the theatre is much more welcoming than the exterior suggests. One highlight was the obvious enjoyment of the audience at both performances. Worth a visit.

If you would like to experience opera for not very much money, you can enjoy a performance by the Lodz Opera house. Its not going to be among the great performances but its a nice evening out.
