Majdanek was one of the 6 extermination camps in Poland. This was the first camp we visited on our trip to Poland. I was so busy trying to get myself ready to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau that I wasn't prepared for my visit to Majdanek. I lived in the city of Lublin for about 3 months before I ventured off to Majdanek. I was on our to do list since we first arrived in the city. I had heard of Auschwitz, Belsen and Treblinka but not Majdanek. Attraction clearly isn't the right word. It's the site of one of the most evil camps of the Second World War where a quarter of a million people died at the hands of the Nazis. It is right next to a main road into the city.
