Admittedly our reason for visiting was because it was cooler than outside on the square and it was fairly cheap to get in. The museum itself is beautifully done and looks nice but it's just boring, it is in places oddly translated and with titles such as 'trade routes in lesser poland in the 12th and 13th century' I've had... It is amazing to see what has been discovered at this site and to think that it was not very long ago that the entire site was dug up to reveal the burial sites & artefacts which are now on display here.

Probably the best museum in Krakow. Modern and interactive. Plan to spend at least 2 hours for a proper visit. Entrance is from the Cloth Hall on the side that faces the Basilica, on the right hand side. Tickets are timed so prebook in advance from the tourist information office on the opposite side of the Cloth Hall.

Krakau/Kraków is a city that pampers its visitors: stunning architecture, mouth-watering cuisine, friendly citizens, comfortable affordable hotels and a rich cultural heritage. A three-day-trip is usually enough to visit the most important sites as well as a trip to Auschwitz. The Old Town is a must, but don't skip the old Jewish quarter of Kazimierz, which today is an up... More

Begun as a small archaeological dig in one corner of the town square, Rynek Underground is a now permanent exhibit mostly detailing - in astonishingly rich, multi-media detail - medieval Krakow, but also touching on the city's modern evolution. It is so literally and figuratively in-depth, you could easily spend two or more fascinating hours here and not see, hear,... More

Do not go on the Free Walking Tour here. It is actually a paid tour through them. Everything was too drawn out. I would have preferred going at my own pace. I thought it ok only because they have just started this dig. I saw the one in Barcelona a few years ago and that was ten times better. But,... More

I read about this on a guidebook and wanted to visit it. I bought a ticket in the morning (19zl) and they told me the entrance was 2pm. Which tied me up a bit around the Rynek. Actually this also happened for other attractions (e.g. St Mary's tower). Basically, it was nice to see the results of the excavations of... More

This was very interesting for anyone who doesn't come from a country with a lengthy history like the countries in Europe or Asia have. It is truly mind boggling to see how the original town square somehow was directly underneath today's town square. Fascinating history & exhibits to challenge the minds of anyone who is interested in what people did,... More

This museum is a massive achievement in terms of engineering. Only 10 years ago, the Main Square was dug up in order to preserve medieval Krakow and the photos near the end of the exhibition are very interesting. I thought the best part were the actual preservation of the city walls and streets and the walkways through gave a good... More
