Much of the old city is as it was before the war buildings were not bombed and destroyed as in other polish cities like Gdansk which although appearing 18th century is really post war reconstruction. Many impressive synagogues but the current Jewish community is virtually non existent. The past is forgotten or airbrushed. It was not because of the Germans... More

It is necessary to see. Historical architecture, around spacious square, decorated horse carriage, good possibilities for shopping and relaxation in many cafetaries and restaurants. The spirit is medieval, but present is inconspicuously in the background.

All you would want find in an old city. Horse drawn carts, open squares dozens of restaurants and crowds of people.

Great city with lots to see and do, cheap to eat and drink and good quality. People very friendly warm and helpful. auschwitz only about 45 minutes to an hours drive.. In my view everyone should get a free visit once in their life, very profound experience.

Just returned from Krakow and completely enjoyed the old town center. You can walk down streets left and right from the Main Square and not get lost. It's a bit of a grid which is nice. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, coffee shops to discover. The locals are quiet for the most part but at night I noticed some... More

The old town of Krakow is a real gem. Lined with great shops, restaurants, pubs, and sights - it is an absolute must to spend several days just wandering the streets and taking it all in. Being such a small and compact old town, you can easily visit most of it within a day, but it's well worth it to... More

Krakow is as beautiful as everyone says and more... The heartbeat of Poland, her castles, churches, icons, architecture, horses and carriages absolutely grab your heart and take you through alleys, streets and monuments filled with history and soul. The food is good, the vodka even better and and whether it be day or night, strolling through the city is wonderful. I... More

Rather luckily Krakow was spared from destruction in WW2 and the beautiful gothic history remains. Walking up the main shopping street towards the square you feel a sense of awe at the high rising buildings leading to the cathedral. There are so many shops, bars and restaurants - best of all and random is the lego shop! Once in the... More
