They have left some of the area since the WWII. Its a strong monument with the few bricks still hanging.

This is very beautiful, the buildings are well kept and the architecture is lovely, if you've been to Amsterdam, it's like that. I don't like to tell people too much about a place so they can discover it them selves but well worth a visit

This was absolutely flattened during WWII. Now it looks amazing : hats off, an amazing rebuild. However the prices here are really low , not a tourist trap at all.

Lots of places to spend money on amber jewelry, average food and hardly any of the locals speak English. It's the most decent looking area of the city, those pics you see of Gdansk, the 3-4 you see all the time? That's basically all that's actually nice looking architecture-wise in this city.

The Old town is really beautiful just to have a walk and peek into a tourist shops. For my surprise, on the main street there was very tasty and cheap vegetarian restaurant! Made my day!

Absolutely beautiful. I'm not that big a fan of admiring architecture but the streets, old buildings and ornaments were stunningly charming. Plenty of shops, restaurants, museums. Well worth a visit.

From the cobblestone roads to the medieval looking buildings. the Old town is definite our favorite area in Gdansk.

If you can travel when the fair is on, it's unbelievable, especially the food. Great sausages, kvass, rye bread spread with lard and pickles, grilled smoked white cheese. Eat everything. Try the vodka too, these people invented it! The town is among the most beautiful anywhere too.

Many nice places to eat and old architecture to see. There are some quiet places and photographic opportunities.

The Old Town is interesting as are many similar places in Europe. Best of all, it's where the free, guided tour begins. Our guide was a witty, intelligent man called Jacek. His wry sense of humour and good-natured asides about Krakow, comparing the cities, were worth the hour or so alone. Payment is in the form of a tip ay... More
