So beautiful with a great atmosphere made by all the performers in the streets. Music, juggling, painting etc. Be aware of pocket thieves. A man next to us was robbed of his backpack in broad daylight among hundreds of people. So hold on to those values.

The city was very croudy, there were market places everywhere, but be careful and watch out for pick pockets, we saw the police several times!

When the Russian army crossed into Germany near the end of World War II, the ancient Hanseatic/German city of Danzig was the first city they touched, and they took their revenge ... leveling the city and eventually annexing part of Poland and then compensating the Poles by giving them Danzig (or modern day Gdansk in Polish). And, to Poland's credit,... More

Gdansk has a lot to offer-restaurants abound, the architecture is truly wonderful, we enjoyed the jarmark (once a year street market) which is over 700 years old. You have to hunt for the true local items, but the tablecloths, the pottery and other stuff is all there. Put on your walking shoes! The Historical Museum was free today - we... More

Well worth a visit......lots to see....good restaurants and cafes at very reasonable prices. Interesting river cruise up to Westerplatte and a train journey to Sopot allows a good day at the nearby seaside resort.

The old town is great place to have a walk around and look at touristy stuff. It has a bit of history, good places to relax and to enjoy a city vacation. Take a walk down a few of the roads except the expected places to go and you can get a better feeling of the place.
