Despite the fact it was completely rebuilt from its ashes, Gdansk is a fascinating city. It is a pleasure to stroll in the streets of the old city, and learn about its past The port area, with its "Solidarity: sites - the movement which brought about the fall of communist Eastern Europe, is also intresting and moving A true experience

We came into Gdansk and there is a huge outdoor fair which we really didn't know what it was. Evidently it has been happening for 750+ years and is for about three weeks. Fun party atmosphere with lots of food, music and things to buy. And Old Town is compact and full of history.

It is hard to believe that this town had been bombed to ruins during the WWII! The buildings are relatively new and in good condition inside, and outside they look exactly as they used to look before the war. I really admire those people, who have kept it in the traditional way and restored the old town with love.

Could there be any more amber jewelry stores? Maybe, maybe not. But the overall feel is pleasant and it's always nice to have pedestrian shopping areas. We were able to see the Big Crane and walk along the riverside. Lots of shops and restaurants - not as many cultural sites as some other cities, but interesting anyway.

i was in Gdansk for a weekend and Old town is the first place i visited. The style of buildings is so different and it was very crowded because of weekend. Dont miss if you are Gdansk, you'll totally enjoy this place, esp in mornings and evenings.

Every building is unique and has it's own unique history so it's recommended to take a free city tour with an English speaking guide. Way too many socalled city tours with small electric cars, seems like a scam to me with all these unauthorized guides who costs a fortune too.Can be very hot on a sunny summer day, so choose... More

the main pedestrian street is surrounded by Dutch archetecture. A liitle Amsterdam in poland! Shops and restaurants abound with huskers out in the evening.

What a Pleasant surprise this town! We weren't expecting it to be so nice. The old town is cobblestone and is several blocks long. It is lively with restaurants, shops and bars.
