What a surprise that Ostrava is a very green city with a river bending like a ribbon through its centre. In a clear day you can enjoy a wonderful view of the city - churches, main streets, industrial area of Dolni Vitkovice and many others. All this is framed by the Beskydy mountains. Very good gift shop. Guided walking tours.

We were treated to a guided visit of this tower including an excellent view from the top. This tower is very much a relic of communist pride overlooking a sad decline of a once thriving industrial region. Whilst this was an interesting business visit I cannot imagine selecting Ostrava for a holiday.

Worth a visit for a nice view over the city in an interesting building. The staff were helpful and happy to offer local knowledge. Cost was approximately £1 to go up and there was a lift to the top so no stairs required.

It is the highest tower of the town hall in the Czech Republic and the view from here is beautiful. When the weather is nice, you can see the Mountains Jeseniky and the east Fatra. You can also ride a lift "paternoster" in the town hall building.

The tower is accessed from the city hall building with the interesting public square. Inside follow the signs for the elevator. The ride up can take a little while as the trip is long and there is only one car. At the top is a small gift shop with local items and collectibles. The tower offers a 360° outdoor walkway... More

Just going into the rather grand City Hall is quite an experience! But do go up in the lift to the top floor and from there get in the "other" lift to make the trip to the viewing platform - where you can walk all the way round and get an overall picture of the city. We were there in... More

With just 90 Kc, you got to see the birdview of Ostrava. Get there at about 5pm, to catch the best sunset pictures.

Being at the top of the tower, you have a great view of the city, nearby towns, and Beskydy Mountains. Make sure you chose a clear day to go to the top of the tower. This is worth the money. When you are done, you can get on the pedestrian pathway and walk along the Ostravice River or go back... More
