Splendid Cathedral at the edge of Jeseniky mountain range

Great church architecture, views of historical city of Olomouc below, honest Moravian food in nearby Hospoda u Macku. Olomouc Zoo easy walking distance.

If you're here for a spontaneous visit you won't get to see much. The church is impressive enough as are so many others and the view is panoramic but its the stories behind places like this that give them life and you'll probably need a tour to get that, something we didn't have time to do as we were passing... The views from the steps are amazing. Inside, light and airy with a sense of peace and tranquility. The altar literally glows with light. Everything here is "just right", not over the top, not stark. One of my favorite churches in the Czech Republic and unlike many "touristy churches" there is no entrance fee, simply a feeling of being welcomed.

If you come at the brink of the summer night and sit for a while on the stairs in front the majestic church you will be rewarded with an outlook that will sooth your mind and let the worries melt in the blinking lights below. I heartily recommend this place to any lone traveller or a couple of soulmates.

I truly adore this place. Not that much church itself but stairs in front of it. If you go there on sunny clear day you can see from stairs whole Olomouc and fields around. Especially sunset is truly spectacular there. Great for just sitting there, relax and enjoy the view.

Although we cheated (hired a car) bus 11 takes you very near the church (and you get to see the countryside too!). The church is extremely ornate and impressive - and just when I thought I was churched out! The view is spectacular and it is a lovely walk around the area.

The basilica is a 15-minute drive outside of the center of Olomouc. It is situated on top of the Holy Hill. When dark, the basilica is visible the moment you leave Olomouc city and keeps on getting bigger until you get to the top of the hill. You can also do the last piece of the pilgrimage. Instead of following... More

Friends from Olomouc took us to the Basilica. It's a scenic ride through the countryside and the church on Holy Hill is visible from a distance. It's a beautiful church, well worth your time. Views from the top of the hill are breathtaking.

The Basilica is on a hill top a few miles outside Olomouc. It really is a great location, with lovely views over the countryside. The church is quite atmospheric inside. There's not much else to do in the village - when I visited in December the cafes and zoo weren't open. You can get there on bus 11 from the... More

Svatý Kopeček is a historic city, urban area in the northeast of the City Olomouc. This significant natural dominant of Olomouc is used as a recreational place of Olomouc and since 1952 there is the Olomouc ZOO. The Holy Hill is primarily the monumental Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary. The history of the pilgrimage place on the... More
