This is more than a religious museum, although it does contain a collection of chalices, monstrances, and vestments. It's full of art work and archeological artifacts. If you're there on a hot day, you'll appreciate the air conditioning. Don't overlook the beautiful old wood floors as you're looking up at the ceilings. Not as impressive as similar museums in other places, but still worth a look if you are trekking to the Cathedral anyway, and are visiting the Museum of Modern Art as then you can buy a combo ticket. The staff are particularly friendly and helpful here, given that none of them spoke English!

The building itself is worth the visit, and the women who "guard" it are so proud of it. It really is worth the time. Many interesting painting (mostly Italian late Mannerist). But notice the floors, ceilings, doors. No English spoken, but it doesn't matter because there's a genuine will to communicate and great pride in this treasure.

I found this museum totally fascinating - a superb collection of religious art. The simple but beautiful wooden statues were a highlight, as were the flamboyant, jewel encrusted monstrances. Plus there was a good sequence of Old Master paintings. You could easily spend a couple of hours here without getting bored. I also enjoyed the antics of the eccentric attendants... More

One of few attractions of this kind in the Czech Republic that meets international standards. Freshly set in an attractive way, modern, interesting. Well staffed with helpful people and you can have a reasonable coffee after the tour. Definitely worth coming when you are in town.

Congratulations to Dr. Zatloukal for the transformation of this museum. The room with the medieval statues in particular is breathtaking. The museum is well laid out, the staff are helpful and there is a good bookshop.

i got the audio guide and found it very helpful. I loved the juxtaposition of the old ruins against the modern concrete. Apparently the golden coach which is the first exhibit you see was used in the film ' Amedeus' . this museum is a lovely quiet place to escape the midday heat for a few hours, the audio guide... I was visiting the cathedral and went for the museum as well and it was a big surprise. What a beautiful page of history in a modern assembly. This museum was obviously well planned and it was a pleasure to visit. Although you constantly feel like in a maze it actually adds to the whole experience, well worth the 50... More

The museum has a fine if limited collection of pieces from the history of Olomouc. The reliquaries and monstrances are very beautiful, and displayed in an interesting and accessible way. They were the high point of the collection, and rivaled similar pieces in the Hapsburg royal treasury in Vienna.
