A church with a view over old Olomouc

An old, interesting church with various sections built and renovated at different times. Climb the tower (200 steps) for a great view over the Old Town centre.

This is one of the few churches I was able to get in as most of them were closed. The church is quite dark inside and it has beautiful painted glass windows. You can enter into one of the towers by the double spiral staircase. You can see Olomouc center from up there.

I'm a classical music fan, particularly JSBach. I visited this church today and an organist was practising for a forthcoming series of local concerts. At the end of his practice session he played the Toccata and Fugue in D minor. Heaven. The church itself looks a bit grotty from the outside but its colourful enough inside. As others have said,... This place represents a large chunk of the city's history, boasting jewels such as Edelman's organ with roughly 10 000 pipes, one of the largest in Europe. The interior is not as richly decorated as in other baroque churches in Olomouc, well, it is a gothic church after all. The tower offers breathtaking views of the whole city, and thanks... More

The interior of this church is well worth a visit, but while you are there be sure to go back outside and climb the tower to the top of the righthand church tower. It costs about $0.75, and you go up and down a unique dual spiral staircase. The views from the top let you see absolutely everything in the... More

A double spiral staircase leading up to the top of the old bell tower as close to the sky as phisically possible in the baroque city center of Olomouc. It is a really poetic symbol. In my understanding the uplifting encrypted message, the key, let's say the DNA of the church is this hidden treasure you might earn if you... More

St Moritz exterior isn't as imposing as other churches, but venture inside for a real treat. Don't miss climbing the bell tower. It's a steep, winding climb but the views from the top are worth the effort.
