This was our first visit to Prague and the tour of the Lobkowicz Palace was a highlight of not only our visit to Prague but our entire European trip. It seemed there were wonderful surprises around every corner: our lunch, the classical concert, meeting and talking with William Lobkowicz, and finally seeing the incredible treasures in the palace museum. I... More

Wonderful tour here that wasn't marketed by our Guide. We went on our own steam and found it really informative. The fact that family give the audio tour is fantastic too - makes it seem so real! Loved the Caneleto paintings!

The Lobkowicz family tree has three major trunks and members include Phillip II of Spain. Many of the relatives portraits dating back to the 1600's are presented in two rooms of family history. Part of the palace has been opened to the public by the family and includes a china room, firearms collection, the dog's room, bird room, and the... More

Some rooms were closed on the day we were there for a 'private function'. Overall I thought the materials on show were average although the portraits and other art works were very interesting.

I booked the combination ticket and went to the lunchtime classical concert. Well worth it. The three players were exceptional individually and as a group. An hour of pure bliss.

It is, essentially, a family museum, reconstituted after the communist government fell. It is a wonderful collection of paintings, music and other art. The free audio guide is narrated by the family member in charge of managing the museum and it's collection, and it's great. Definitely make time for a few hours on your way back from visiting the castle.

We had a private evening tour of Lobkowicz Palace and then dinner on their balcony overlooking the city. It was all magical. This is a private collection of the Lobkowicz family and includes some personal portraits of their forebears as well as a fascinating music room with a collection of instruments and some personally annotated scores by Mozart etc The... We thought we'd finished looking at the various attractions of the Prague castle, when we noticed that there were some Canalettos on display at the Lobkowicz Palace. Indeed there were, and there was also a Breugel - but the real story was that of the Lobkowicz family, patrons of Mozart and Beethoven. The family suffered during both the second world... More

Do not miss this. It has treasures galore and doesn't seem to be mobbed like other venues. You will see one of a kind exhibits and a free, terrific audio guide is included.

Staying in Hradcany & Letna

Neighborhood Profile
Hradcany & Letna
Your experience in Prague will never be complete if you do not see it from the top. Hillsides, stretched from the west to the north, provide spectacular views of greenish copper cupolas, narrow cobblestone streets, bridges connecting both river banks and green gardens from red-roof tops of centuries-old houses. Prague pulls you into its 1300 year old history. Walking up the hill or stairs to Prague Castle, the historical seat of Czech rulers and the majestic Saint Vitus Cathedral can leave you speechless (and out of breath). Luckily, plenty of terrace cafés overlooking gardens and beautiful parks are available to provide rest and a place to catch your breath again.
