Plzenska Pivnice u Zlateho Tygra is the best pub in Prague to sample Pilsner urquell pivo at its best in a no nonsense setting.Located in the neighborhood area of Prague called Stare Mesto (old town) this place is an institution in the Prague drinking scene.Always extremely busy no matter what time you come here you need an invitation by God... I was here for dinner and beer 2 years ago with a few friends, not all of whom are beer drinkers. Even though we arrived without a reservation, there was a semi-occupied table we could join, and, as other reviewers have mentioned, beer was placed on our table promptly thereafter. Most beer houses in my home town are just plain... More

My husband and I stopped in here one afternoon after seeing it on a travel show. We knew what to expect - you are served mugs of Pilsner Urquell, and they keep bringing you refills until you indicate that you are done (I put my coaster on my mug). The beer was cheap, and the atmosphere was as you would... More

Just tried to make a reservation and tried to ask when it is available in the coming two weeks. The only reply was "full for today" and after that, hanged up the phone suddenly. Also wrote an email with a reply saying "Your message to <info@uzlatehotygra.cz> was automatically rejected:Quota exceeded (mailbox for user is full)" They don't want to make... More

I had an amazing time here. You'll have the chance of meeting new people, either locals or travellers like yourself and you'll never run out of beer - the moment you finish your beer, the waiter will bring you a new cold beer without you asking for it. Also the beer is very cheap (40CZK for a pint) compared to... More

I am not a beer person. But I am not a snob either. Still, it was stuffy inside, stinky and a bit disgusting. Not my kind of place but obviously it is a landmark for Prague. I am sure beer drinkers would love it!

We were five siting in this pub at refectory tables. It was not hard to get a beer here. It comes in one size and one type. If you want food, it is more like snack food, i.e. sausages and the like. The beer guy when he brigs the beer also gives you a piece of paper on which he... More

We had a great time in this pub! We wandered in one night and found it packed. After 10 minutes or so we were able to grab a couple of seats at one of the long pine tavern tables. Within seconds, mugs of Pilsner Urquel 12% were placed before us. As far as I could tell, we were the only... More

Love this pub. Very old and traditional the beer is very good. Just find a seat (if you can) put a beer mat in front of you and in minutes a beer will appear, when your glass is near empty another will appear without evening asking. When your ready to leave just put the beer mat on top of your... More

I recommend you give it a try. We travel a lot and this is place I wouldn't want to miss. A lot of the negatives are true. It is crowded and loud. But the locals will tell it has the best beer--anywhere. And it is true. The waiters don't say much but they don't miss much either. I said to... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighborhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
