Description: Magic trip to PragueLong history of black light theatre in the club Reduta...
Magic trip to PragueLong history of black light theatre in the club Reduta continues. Small group of Czech artists stood at the beginning of this phenomenon. A part of them moved to the stage of Reduta Theatre, where they prepared performances over the half of the century. New season of unique play called Magic Trip to Prague begins at the end of June. Over the year experienced team worked hard to shift this extraordinary art to higher level. And they succeeded. Magic Trip to Prague is an original project of the black light theatre that has gained viewers all over the world. Perhaps no other genres of theatre created in the Czech Republic have gained such a wide popularity among people from Europe through South America and in a far China. The show just stands on the principles of black light theatre, visual, light and dance show in heritage of the Laterna Magika inventors in legendary Prague culture venue. With this fascinating combination of live footage with a living actor blended into one whole, Czechs charmed viewers for the first time at EXPO 1958 in Brussels and it does so till today.Times have changed and black light theatre keeps the step with it. Technological possibilities of the new millennium moved on and Reduta comes with this original authorial performance.Magic Trip to Prague gives to viewer the opportunity to go through more or less known corners of the Czech capital, enchanted by theatrical magic and beauty of Prague and to surrender to the magic world of black light theatre. Infant Jesus of Prague comes to life before our eyes to fulfill the most secret wishes, Vltava River rises from the shores to dance, the Astronomical clock spins, the Apostles come alive and Grim Reaper dance with the astronomical dial. Magic of black light theatre is in animation of theatre props by live actors dressed in black velvet suits. The whole scene is then illuminated by ultraviolet. In their "black light" disappear silhouettes of masked actors and conversely the contours of objects are highlighted. So you do not see anything else than magically animated objects that creates a magical atmosphere at the scene. The magic of live animation excels especially in modern times.Reduta shows with "Magic trip to Prague" the possibilities of modern black light theatre and proudly avows to the legacy of pathfinders of the black light theatre, but with the modern and well understood language for viewers from around the world.Welcome to the land of legendary theatre in the heart of Prague!

I think you will enjoy this show, to what extent', it depends on what kind of humor you have. I'd say it is mostly directed towards families in the sense that it will satisfy the kids and adults. Some of it is sexual humor which might upset some sheltering parents from the usa but it is fun. It's about an... More

I was laughing a lot when I realised that most of that is actually happening to tourists in Prague... cosy atmosphere and nice effects of black light theatre made it even... More

As I see other reviews it seem this was completly diferent show. Black light theatre is very specific and not everybody can understand to it. There is more theatres in Prague, if you want... More

Staying in Nove Mesto (New Town)

Neighborhood Profile
Nove Mesto (New Town)
Nearly 700 hundred meters long, Wenceslas Square represents the most frequent and buzzing crossroads of the city. The National Museum in the upper part of the square watches over your spending spree in countless shops and retail stores lining the entire square, which ends at Na Příkopě, the most famous shopping street. When tired or broke, you can explore the city's underpasses, which can take you to the Old Town or to the courtyards of art nouveau houses with secret gems of greenery, white benches and rose bushes that provide unexpected peace in the midst of the city. Be sure to pay a visit to the traditional cafés, classic Czech pubs, cinemas and theaters. National Theater near the river has a lot to offer to foreigners. Go to the river bank and enjoy live music and drinks while watching a sunset behind Prague Castle.
