We stumbled upon the National Theatre, when looking for something to eat. The building is truly magnificent, but is not seen to advantage as the other streets have encroached and blocked the long distance views. More

We were fortunate enough to order tickets several months ahead of time for a ballet during our four day stay in Prague. I was pleasantly surprised by the various levels of prices available. The National Theater is really a beautiful venue in which to see a production. The view along the river either before the show or during intermission is... More

On the advise of the ticket agent, we took our family( 2 kids) to see "Crazy Stuff" at Narodni divadlo, to see a modern dance show. After 10 minutes of listening to 2Pac, 50 Cents and Eminim music to dance moves about having sex, and killing people, we decided it was not for the family. So if you are an... More

Yes, the operas do have a Czech bias, but if those operas include Rusalka, the Bartered Bride or any of Janacek's 5 greatest operas that is not a problem. I have seen some good Puccini, an outstanding Ring cycle as well as (on my recent visit) a most unusual Robert Wilson production of Katya Kabanova. Drinks are amazingly cheap, surtitles... More

And I mean it!:) Of course if you're not a ballet or opera or classical peace's lover! All the other people, just admire it from the outside, take some pictures from the bridge next to it, go and have a look at it in the evening when illuminated. I have been to the Hamlet performance, which must have been great... More

Went to see a concert there and we were not disappointed. It was not a 'tourist' event, but done by a real working orchestra. Quality of play was good and we generally enjoyed the selection - lasted more than 2 hours so be prepared. The Smentana hall is very nice. There were no refreshments during the very short intermission. More
