I almost hesitate to review the Estates Theatre as I'd like to keep it as a secret, special place. However in the spirit of TripAdvisor I will share that it is an exquisitely beautiful place where you can experience great opera at a really low price. It was marvellous to attend a performance of Don Giovanni in the venue where... More

I saw Don Giovanni from the 2nd Balcony in the middle last night, and it was absolutely extraordinary. The building feels like it hasn't changed much in hundreds of years, and you can get relatively inexpensive tickets (450 CZK) in a balcony box which feels so fancy. I've seen others complain about balcony seats requiring craning of the neck to... More

I went to this theatre to see a performance of Don Giovanni and had a delightful night. The theatre itself is beautiful, the view from our seats in the second row to the ceiling and balconies is amazing. To see the orchestra playing their instruments while watching the opera was a special memory of Prague. The Estates Theatre is well... More

This is the place you see in movies but never think you could end up here. It's fantastical. Everything is detailed and ornate-- the chairs, the ceiling, the chandelier, the curtain, the support beams... The building is breathtaking. And the opera was nice, too. Weird set design; good costumes. Really, someone could have sung a few notes, and I wouldn't... More

I just returned from a last minute trip to Prague where my husband had multiple days of business meetings so I was solo for three days/evenings. I purchased my tickets for The Marriage of Figaro before leaving home. I was in Dress Circle (1st balcony) Box 9, Seat 3. I would say that was the perfect place to see the... More

Had dreamed of listening to Mozart in Vienna but it was not to be during this trip. Discovered the Estates Theater while planning our Prague portion of tour. Thrilled and delighted to enjoy Mozart's "Cozi fan tutte" at this historic venue. Purchased our seats located in a private box on the Dressing Circle from National Theater website online before embarking... More

We saw The Marriage of Figaro here, and the hall was lovely and the performance excellent. I wish we had known before of the history of the theater. As noted in other reviews, this is the last remaining hall where Mozart conducted. Don Giovanni debuted here and Marriage of Figaro performed here to a good reception after being dismissed elsewhere.... More

We spent a couple weeks in Vienna, Salzburrg, Budapest and Prague, and saw/toured several classical music venues, but am only writing up a review for this theatre as it was most excellent. We were lucky to catch an hour long show of Mozart...kind of a greatest hits with a tenor, soprano and three piece woodwind. The music was good (to... More

I was amazed that this place even existed as a theatre and not a museum given it is the last building in the world that Mozart himself conducted and performed inside. I went to see Don Giovani there in September 2014 and was blown away by both the production (which coincidentally was first premiered in the same venue under Mozart's... More

We celebrated Christmas in Praha and had the privilege to see the traditional Czech Chorea Bohemica at the Estates Theater. The performance was fabulous - but our seats were not. If you're purchasing tickets at this theater, avoid Gallerie I and II. These are literally so high in the theater that you have to crane your neck over to see... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighborhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
