Only if you have extra time

Beautiful buildings but they're not a rarity in this city. The castle is the draw. Save this are for extra time if you have any.

Walk the streets, wander up the hill to the castle. It's a steep and long climb, but worth it both for the view and to see the castle and St. Vitus Cathedral. Look for the joke rubber manequin with arm outstretched to brush against the ankles of the unwary. A great fun.

A beautiful area, full of life and culture. I loved every minute of being in this city. This area is full of street artists, all lovely, friendly people. The shops in this area are a mix of tourist and traditional craft. Lovely.

You definitely feel like you're in Europe if you go to this area. The narrow, cobblestoned streets and charming restaurants are so enjoyable. We didn't bother buying tickets to see additional sights as we found spending a few hours ticket free we'd still seen a good amount of Czech culture.

What a nice area of Prague! We spent a full day up here and bought a 'long visit' ticket + a ticket for the grand tower of the cathedral. Take your own food and drink if you can. The prices up here a really too much The whole place is really well kept. The palace guard are immaculate and deserve... More

Went on an organised tour but if I was doing it again I would just jump the 22 tram and go independently. We Did not gain much access to the interiors of buildings and access in the cathedetal was quite limited. There are plenty of eating and drinking places and i imagine this is a popular location in summer where... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighborhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
