Take the 22 tram to pohorelec stop...do not get off before this stop...this way you will be walking downhill rather than vice versa. Also, the gardens are spectacular...most of them are free but the "Lower gardens" cost us 50 K each ($2.50 for seniors). There were quite a few stairs going down and it took about 30-45 mins but we... More

Prague Castle (and specifically the district around it) provides travelers with a fantastic hiking experience on cobblestone, dirt, and trails. We also visited the gardens for 80 Koruna (maybe 4 USD, 3 Euros) and thought the views were fantastic. Although we did not make it inside the castle (it closes early around 5:30 PM) it did not matter. The walk... More

This was a stone's throw from our hotel, although up a lot of gradual, broad stairs. We were there not during a peak time, but the crowds built over the day. You have the option to pay for shorter or longer tours of the buildings, take the longer as you will want to see everything. We really recommend beginning with... More

"Castle" doesn't mean the same thing in Prague as we imagine. It is not a single building, although the main building is spectacular. It is a series of many fascinating buildings. It was interesting to watch the changing of the guard at the front of the castle. It is a must for anyone visiting Prague.

It gets really busy so the earlier you start your visit the better. Pay the extra for one of the castle guides and get a real idea of the history, it's well worth it!

Traveled back in time as we toured the castle...the buildings are amazing and in such good shape and we could imagine what it was like so many centuries ago.

The castle district of Prague is jammed with cultural attractions, art and other tourists. The city's major museums are nearby as well as convenient cafes for coffee and cake.
