he castle itself is magnificent, but inside is spectacular. The St. Vitus church is simple amazing as are the courtyards. The St. George basillica is also wonderful but Golden Lane with its quaint houses, (#22 was used by Franz Kafka) and superb knights armour exhibition were all highlights. And there is more. Highly recommended.

If you are visiting Prague you will probably go over the Charles Bridge. Basically it is a bridge around 300-400 metres long with beautiful statues, stunning views and array of street artists and musicians. If these things normally bore you, they still will here, but if you like to gaze upon stunning sculptures from years gone by in scenic surroundings... More

Covers several important buildings within it's walls - above Prague on the opposite bank of the Vltava from the main city. Czech kings and Presidents had their inauguration ceremonies here, a magnificent cathedral and interesting museums. Golden Lane in the 24 little houses of the former royal guards has interesting craft and book shops, with some of the houses previously... More

The crowds are in the Castle grounds, but just outside there are some lovely streets selling reasonably priced and good quality food. Find a bench, rest and enjoy.

When you are in Prague take the time (at least 4 or 5 hours) to visit this area, the cathedral, the houses and so on. It gives you an understanding of the importance of Prague in the history of Europe.

The district is full of historic buildings and you can easily walk around for hours. Next to the castle there is also the Cathedral and there is a restaurant if you feel hungry or thirsty, off course the prizes are a little higher but the view while eating or drinking is worth the prize

There are many beautiful, intricate and stunning castles in Europe and while the Cast District in Prague certain fits all of those descriptors it is also one of the most poorly run and heavily monetized. I don't mind paying to see parts of the castle, quite the contrary, I enjoy knowing that my funds will help preserve history for others... More

the Castle District is a good place to walk around once you have finished seeing the Cathedral.. explore the by-lanes of the Hradcany.

great for the history buffs. your ticket lasts for two days so you can take it in slowly if you like. there is a TON to see so it can take a while. March is considered the off season and it was packed, can't imagine what is it like during the summer. A lot of things don't have any signs... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighborhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
