A wonderful area to visit

The District is on top of the hill. My best suggestion is to take tram #22 from anywhere in the lower part of town, get off at the Pražský hrad stop (Prague Castle), and follow... read more

The District is on top of the hill. My best suggestion is to take tram #22 from anywhere in the lower part of town, get off at the Pražský hrad stop (Prague Castle), and follow the crowds through the area to the downhill walk. You'll end up near the Malostranská Metro stop, which is also a collection point for many... More

The ticket salesperson for the castle museums was impressively helpful and honest--he insisted we buy the smaller package of museum entries rather than the larger ones ("Who knows about these other places? Just do the key ones!"). The little golden alley was especially unique and interesting to see.

Loved all the fascinating buildings and cobbled alleys. Prices varied a great deal on refreshments. Make sure you choose places with prices in the menu otherwise you risk paying a lot, lot more.

Prague is beautifull, old & modern, attracting tourists from all over the world, of all ages, with all kind of interests. Chrles Bridge, and the Old Town are fabulous.

The tour around the castle was very interesting and the dungeons made you think how well behaved you'd want to be!!! There were some grisly torture items and lots of armour to see

Hradcany is a shut-in complex, and early in the morning is empty. Approached from the rear entrance of the castle (is open) - wide staircase leads to it. The castle is easily accessible by tram and metro Hradnchanska. The whole complex is very impressive, but the most beautiful is the Cathedral of St. Vitus. Magnificent Gothic building located in the... More

This is the area surrounding the Castle and should be read with my brief review of that as well. There is easily a full day here on a combined visit and you will need comfortable shoes as there is lots of walking and also a lot of steps! Lots of architecture to see. Quieter places will be the galleries but... More

It is such a must do attraction but badly sign posted. We had queued for 20 mins to get into the cathedral before realizing we needed a ticket from a room tucked on the side in the first square you go into on the way in!! There are two types of ticket to buy both cover quite a few different... More

Delightful shops along the way as you continually climb up, up. There is a John Lennon Wall and a John Lennon Pub in the district- an homage to him. He is a hero to Czech youth-the peaceful activist--and students demonstrated against Communism in the "Velvet Revolution" of 1989 here. Complete with singer/guitar player doing Lennon songs loved it.

This Castle is sooo big, sooo grand it is hard to conceive it's size. This castle is very well maintained and the gardens are beautiful. I took a tour first then went back and spent 3 hours taking in all of the surroundings with more than ample amounts of photo opportunities. There was enen a bride and groom there having... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighborhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
