Way too many tourists and buskers around in the summer months for coming here to be a pleasant experience. The square seemed to be filled with living statues making annoying squeaking noises at everyone who passed them. On our previous visit at the end of December it was much more enjoyable with less crowds and less irritation.

Lots of museums and galleries within easy reach. Stunning architecture. Some good eateries as well and, although dearer than away from the centre still eminently affordable.

Take a seat at one of the sidewalk cafes, order a drink and watch the entertainment in the square. Besides people watching, you can catch folk/rock, living statues, bird handlers, someone playing classical music on wine glasses filled with water, etc., etc. If you are early enough in the morning, you may see a wedding party or two entering the... These days the Old Town Square is crowded with tourists day and night but it is still a place of stunning architecture that has changed little in the last few hundred years. Very early morning is a good time to see Prague, before the masses are out and about. A climb up to the top of the Town Hall Tower... More

If you think Prague is busy during the day you should see it at night. Don't miss the astronomical clock. If you eat food from any of the stalls, be mindful that some of the food is sold by weight. You may find yourself spending more than you originally planned.

You can't miss the energy, exuberance, music & romance floating in this place despite the crowds. With many places in the vicinity take a stroll and come back many times a day to catch different performances, grab a bite & beer, shop and relax.

Get a feel for the heart of Prague. We walked around and stopped at a few pubs for a beer and enjoyed the market.

We visited Old Town Square on many occasions on our recent trip to Prague and loved it every time. It does get very busy at certain times of the day, especially when people are watching the Astronomical clock, but the buildings are so good to look at and there are always street artists to watch. There is so much going... More

It is a great place to spend the whole day. The restaurants that are not on the square have better food.
