My wife ,I and 6 other close friend visited old town square on July 2015. There were a lot of tourists everywhere. The buildings surround were very nice. There were several food vendors at street side. You can try some indigenous food over there. Don't forget to rush to the reputable Astronomical Clock to watch its performance in every hour.... More

The Old Town Square is really like a permanent party all the time from late morning onwards - there are beautiful buildings on all sides, including, of course, the famous astronomical clock, which sets up its funny orchestra every hour, leading to the gathering of crowds that melt away afterwards, only to return an hour later! There is always music... More

The Old Town, for me, is the key attraction of Prague. The square is lively and very musical. Loads of food stalls lined the street and you might want to try the tredl or the traditional Czech pastry. There are many crystal and garnet shops as well as other souvenir shops. Do not miss the Astronomical Clock around the corner... More

To be honest I have visited many cities and many 'old towns'. I feel there are others equally as nice - perhaps nicer. However there are a number of beautiful buildings here. Lovely place to wander around and/or have a drink and people watch.

The cafes outside, spilling people onto the steps are a joy to see. Everyone is happy to be in Prague! As you turn around you are greeted with one historical building after another. Should I visit the Powder Tower? The Clock Tower? Street performers? Its a lot to take in, and you'll have fun doing it.

This is a must-see. On the market there are several performances of all kinds of artists. Stay away from the restaurants and café's here because they are all tourist traps. The best food you can find behind the astronomical clock in the food stalls. They have very good Prague Sausage and Ham.

The square is a gem in the old town of Prague. The houses surrounding the square look surprisingly well maintained, but this also applies to the other old parts of Prague. However, it is difficult to enjoy the beauty of the square because it is overcrowded. Sometimes you are almost pushed aside by guided walking tour groups while guys on... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighborhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
