The view on the square is amazing, you just see historical buildings and they keep the street without any asphalt so you really feel you are in an old town square. On the pavement you can find 27 crosses. These crosses mark the 27 Protestants that where beheaded here for their believe by the Catholic king in 1621. And off... More

The old town square holds many historical tidbits to tickle your fancy. From the balcony where communism began and ended in the Czech republic to the famous astrological clock there is plenty to see and study. My only complaint about the square was the number of street performing human statues. There were at least 6 or 7 there, all with... More

Beautiful place. The Astronomical clock, all the buildings, architecture. Everything has its own charm. Do not miss to try the Prague ham and halusky. Of course with a glass of beer.

It was the Easter festive when I was there. There was a lot of great food and performers. You are steps away from museums or a quite walk through the less traveled streets of Prague. Downfall is the crowds! It's wall to wall tourists and tours trying to suck you in. If you can avoid that, you have a chance... More

One of the nicest squares in Europe. A must for all visitors to Prague. Beautiful in both summer and winter (for the Christmas markets which are great - although they cannot match those in Germany). Beautiful views can be had of the main square from the top of the town hall.

Its a real tourist trap and all the bars and restaurants are much more expensive than elsewhere but if you area a tourist I feel you just have to accept that and wallow in the fabulous views. Of course you must stand with everyone else to watch the clock. We loved it and it is really a must do .

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighborhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
