A busy square, typical locals trying to entice you into their restaurants, street traders, people on segways trying to tempt you into hiring, politely refuse and they leave you alone. The architecture is beautiful, well worth spending time there.

Nice town square. See the astronomical clock, churches, and relax with a beer. Very pretty at night.

Wonderful area with good restaurants nearby and entertaining buskers around the main square. A must-see if you're in Prague, in particular the astronomical clock

It's such a gorgeous square, it's hard to decide what to stare at. In any case, if you ever want to walk to anywhere in historic Prague, you can't really walk around this place, and I don't think you'd want to.

This square is on every visitors itinerary I am sure and if not it should be. Surrounded by beautiful architecture this square is quite big so no worries about crowds. It has the great monument to Jus Han overlooked by the beautiful buildings. It is a nice place to eat and just listen to great street musicians.

It was very cold when we visited (January) so the square was not that busy and the street cafes were struggling to provide a warm place to sit. The astronomical clock was a bit underwhelming to say the least.

If you get there early you can avoid huge crowds of tourists, plenty to see and very beautiful, would definitely recommend lots of photo opportunities and the buildings are amazing

If Times Square is the heart beat of NYC, Old Town Square may be the heart and soul of Prague without the tawdry aspects of TS. Shops, small hotels, cafes, old sites and wonderful architecture to capture you.

This is the real centre of Prague where everyone seems to gather . We were here for New Years Eve and it was so crazy busy , they have a great Xmas market with loads of food stalls amongst all the great Architecture , churches and the Astronomical clock . The free walking tours also start here .

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighborhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
