Karlovy Vary is well worth a visit if wanting to see a little more of the Czech Republic. However, we were only able to spend a weekend there, so were not able to visit the museum.

If you enjoy reading and learning about new places, this museum does a great job. Has lots of local and regional information and artifacts and works up to more contemporary things. Staff were friendly and helpful if I had any questions.

Nice set of well described items. It's mainly a museum of the town, showing its geology, nature and history. If someone is interested in Karlovy Vary itself (and read some history of it beforehand), it can be very interesting. I, however, warn you that all text is only in Czech.

Mostly ecology like stuffed birds labeled in Czech and very old history. A quick tour is all it takes.

The museum may be small, but it is stuffed with artifacts. The lady at the ticket booth gave me a booklet in English that gave a general overview of each room and case. The detailed labels in the case are all in Czech--so I had a hard time identifying mineral samples. The first room has mineral samples, the second has... More

This museum gives a very good perspective on the development of the area (aspect on porcelain was my favorite). Since there are a lot of Russian travelers to Karlovy Vary, I want to mention that on the second floor of the museum there is a very special display of items, related to two visits to Karlovy Vary of Peter the... I really appreciated the booklet I was handed in english which explained about the history of the region. There were some interesting pictures showing all the famous people that had visited the area, and some lovely exhibits of furniture, pottery, pewter etc.
