As a fairly good skier, I was impressed that the entire backside of the mountain was double black diamond. The runs were steep and the backside doesn't get the sun so the snow stays fairly light for a west coast mountain.

Family took me up to visit Mount Washington in August. We took the lift to the top, and wandered around and soaked in the amazing 360 degree view of the surrounding valleys and mountains. We then took the winding Linton's Trail down the (east?) side of the mountain. It follows the ski run of the same name part of the... More

What an awesome activity to do in the summer. In summer, it is open every day, and after labour day, operates weekends only until the end of September. The chairlift ride takes about 15 minutes to the summit. From there, there are a few different walking trails. Just a 5 minute walk to the very top of the mountain. The... More

I know locals will want to lynch me for sharing one of the most sublime secrets of our area, but Paradise Meadows are sublime at this time of year. If you take the turnoff for Mount Washington and turn left near the top you will find yourself at the Ravens Lodge parking lot, the centre for the winter x-country ski... More

On Thursday Aug.6th, we left the RV Park at Seal Bay,Courtenay and diverted to Mount Washington and Strathcona Parkway to walk some of the trails. We walked over 2 hours.......the trails are well done AND very enjoyable. And best of all: not many people. From there, it was an easy drive on hwy 19 to Parksville. Really glad we took... More

Grate mountain in the summer and winter. It is well situated and above the clouds. There is a Wow factor when you arrived on the top and see that you actually over the clouds.

I stayed in the alpine resort in Bear lodge accommodation as part of a wedding party last weekend, the. Place is amazing, nowhere can you get better views and a stunning location. The food was limited to the one place but it was good and we ate there on two occasions and really enjoyed it. The accommodation was lovely and... More

The food was great, the bevies refreshing, the view outstanding and the skiing,,,,,well, coming from a newbie the skiing was just fine, albeit a bit low and wet. But who cares?... More
