This National trust property has all the qualities you would expect from a stately home, perhaps a little run down in places, which testifies to the challenge the conservators and curators face, owing to the sheer number of items of furniture cluttering the many, beautiful rooms. The grounds are vast and superb, with bodies of water, flower beds, reedbeds, rose... More

I have been a member of the NT over 30 years and they are always out to improve the experience for visitors there seems to be an army of volunteers to explain the history of the property and all were keen to tell you what they know, this is lacking at many other NT properties, well done the manager of... This was a return visit to Tyntesfield - we had originally come here last year, on the return home from our holiday, however has discovered that all the house tickets had gone, so we hopped back in the car and drove on. This time however, I rebooked tickets on line, for a time to suit me, and off we went!... More

Hi ADsMum and thanks for letting us now about your day with us. Pre-booking for the house has been very popular with everyone who has used the system this year so glad you found it useful. Hope you'll be back soon. More

We didn't go into the house so my comments apply solely to the garden and grounds. Maybe the gardens look better at other times of the year but I didn't find them that interesting. The trees were the best feature with some magnificent specimens. At nearly £20 for 2 people I would recommend you visit something else.

Hi redheadmalvern. Sorry to hear you were a bit disappointed. Our graden and ranger team work hard to try to bring to life the family garden and outdoor spaces created by the Gibbs family. From time to time the flower beds will be empty whilst we change displays but our kitchen garden is generally a wash the flowers, fruit and... More

Well worth a visit to this quirky Victorian NT propoerty Sth of Bristol. We had a slightly frosty welcome from a young lady who who have preferred us to opt for a 'Gift Aid' entrance. Apart from this all NT personnel were both knowledgeable and pleasant. Not great for having a simple cup of tea, but overall we had an... More

Hi Nick L. Thanks for letting us know about your visit to us. Sorry about the 'frosty' welcome. Hopefully just an over eager team member. Gift Aid entry tickets are very important to us as a charity. We of course use admission and other monies raised to help us to continue to look after this special place. Hope this has... More

The transformation is taking time but the wait is worth it. The gardens and grounds are beautiful and remain natural, the kitchen garden 75% restored and a joy to see and the interior is getting there although still cluttered in places. The whole house and grounds is a tribute to Victorian endeavour eve if the fortune did come from bird... More

Really interesting national trust property - some parts of the house are fairly modern, as it was lived in until recently, and as restoration is still in progress there is work being done all the time. When we visited a group of volunteers were cleaning the book collection with the help of a vacum cleaner attached via a card board... More

Being a life long National Trust member, I've visted a lot of properties but this one is a little bit different. I donated 12 years ago to the emergency appeal the Trust started to buy this property intact as it was a Victorian house where nothing had ever been thrown away ( or so it seemed!) providing a strange mix...
