The NT has done a brilliant job with this unconventional time capsule. The architecture is quite extraordinary and the grounds are beautiful. They're so extensive that a courtesy bus zooms visitors around where needed. The house feels like its previous owner has just popped out for a few moments....and, interestingly, they've left rooms on the upper floor full of the... More

after being hardly touched by the owner who lived there until 2001 .the house was opened to the public.its full of family possessions and gives a good idea of life in 19 century leading to the 20th. quite a lot of walking some up step slopes .the gardens are also worth a visit .

Tyntesfield has been on our wish list ever since the NT managed to save it, and we were lucky enough to visit on a gloriously sunny day. One visit just isn't enough to appreciate everything the house has to offer. Anyone planning a visit needs to be aware that you need a timed ticket (we'd arranged ours for 12:00), realise... More

Large Victorian house set in beautiful countryside, with knowledgeable room guides who were keen to impart their knowledge. The house is more homely than regal, and is a good insight into how the privileged Victorians lived. The church attached to the house is quite impressive. There are pleasant walks through the grounds and gardens, but for the less able there... More

We were blessed with glorious weather for our visit and had the opportunity to walk around the beautiful grounds before the house opened. The house itself is a treasure trove with items from victorian through to 1970s. The room 'interpreters' were welcoming, helpful and proactively chatty making you feel that you could be visiting their home as opposed to a... More

We went to Tyntesfield for the first time on Monday 7th July 2014. It was a sunny, showery day and after only an hour's drive we headed straight for the Home Farm Visitor Centre and cafe. This has been beautifully and thoughtfully renovated to provided a huge airy welcoming space inside to house the very popular cafe and shop and... More

We passed a wonderful field on the way to this house full of blood red poppies, what a sight! We arrived at midday to beautiful strong sunlight, down a sloping drive past some barns where we were directed to a car parking space. A further sloping walk to the barn entrance/ cafe etc where we had light refreshments, the amenities were very... More

This was a great experience, from the time we arrived to the time we left this was a very enjoyable experience all round. We started with a drink in the Cow Barn, it was very busy and the staff were wonderful, they were all polite, friendly and very helpful with many demanding customers making their presence felt. The staff were... More

So much to do & explore, you will need more than a day to take in all that is on offer. So much credit must go to the staff that are clearly well informed of the history of Tyntesfield. One thing I will mention Trip adviser have Shepton Mallet in the address, it is nowhere near Shepton Mallet so visitors... More

Went to visit this beautiful old gothic house but did not realise just how breathtaking the garden and views would be! It was the 1st Sunday of the month which meant there was a Farmers Market and Craft fair on. Great bread, cheeses, beers etc to be had at good prices. Grounds spectacular but make sure you have good walking... More
