As a rule, we are not great admirers of Spanish catholic cathedrals - the excesses of coloured marble, florid religious imagery and conspicuous episcopal wealth do little for us. However, this place is different - the interior is relatively simple and has some nice gothic style (probably because it had a French hand in its construction). But the wonder of... More

An elegant neo-gothic facade leads to a very interesting interior. There is a lot to see and admire in the mix of styles, with some gems, such as two beautiful Renaissance portals. Some good paintings too. Well worth a visit. Good audioguide. Another of Spain's hidden gems.

Worth a visit. The wealth of a town was put into their churches, one to go and see. The amazing gothic artwork and sculpture. I must admit I am not usually taken with religious things but try to visit this cathedral.

The cathedral is light and airy inside, helped by the modern stained glass that casts colourful patterns all around. For 1.50 each (OAP discount) we had a very thorough audio guide in English which explained the fascinating artefacts and the history of this cathedral.

This is yet another of the beautiful churches of Spain. However, there are two things which set this apart. First, it is well organized and museum like for visitors. Lots of information is provided in the self guided tour. Second, it is the only church I saw in Spain which has modern looking stained glass windows. This is a very... More

On our first night in Cuenca we were hugely entertained by a local family wedding taking place in the cathedral in the main square. The grande finale involved the groom's friends setting off a chain of bangers in the square that in the UK would have resulted in the arrival of the SWAT squad. Despite the unimposing and not very... Hard to imagine that a small town like Cuenca would have such a spectacular cathedral. It is worthwhile to do the guided tour and discover why the town was so important. The modern stained glass windows are special

A deliciously flamboyant and rich ornate Cathedral to wander around midst afternoon to get away from the heat of the town and the bustle of the streets...and 3.80Euros Admission charge is a great price especially as you get an audio device depicting the history of the Cathedral thrown in free of charge. Really enjoyed this visit.
