Purpose was to see some Viking jewelry which was interesting to see and read about. Rooms did not have furnishings. For people with mobility issues, the cobblestone walks to the entrance might prove difficult. Not open on Mondays during the time we visited.

We visited this castle on a Saturday in mid September - a time when most of Finland's attractions seem to have shut down for winter or only offer limited services. There were no guided tours available, and I suspect that going on such a tour would massively improve the experience. Without further information, the bare rooms won't leave you very... More

Lovely setting. Great castle to run around in and fascinating how they've laid out and explained the archaeological finds. I've been to alot of castles and have to say this one was really good. I was a bit lazy in not getting an English translation thingy as the signs in much of the castle are all in Finnish only (there... More

Well remained medieval fortress gives an idea and of architecture of that time, and of military application. Fortress is beautifully located on the open district on the bank of the channel between two lakes. From bus station - 10-15 minutes on foot, from railway station - about 20 minutes. Fortress is interesting to survey outside, in addition there is an... More

I would not (again) travel out of the way to get there, but I would recommend a stop for anyone who is already in the Häma area. If you combine the castle with the other museums and the festival, it'd be part of a fun day in Häma. The castle itself is small and sparse. It did not spark the... More

It's interesting and well preserved. The staff is nice and there is quite a lot to do and see. The only negative would be the confusing structure of the place though it might be down to us being tired. Still, a calm and nice visit. The special room for kids to play in was also very good.

Nice location and area. The castle has been kept in a good condition and the exhibition is interesting. We visited the castle during Häme Medieval Fair, when there is a lot more to see as well.

Very interesting old med-evil castle in Hämeenlinna. There are a lot of parts that are still in the same as in early days.

This is a very impressive, well-preserved castle adjacent to a military museum. The tour was excellent and the guide very informative.

The only castle made of red tiles in Finland. Dates back to the 13th century. I strongly recommend the guided tour because otherwise it's hard to find out all the interesting aspects of the castle.
