We chose this surf school for two reasons. 1. The excellent reviews on trip advisor 2. The life guards recomended Noosa as best place for children to learn surfing, beach more sheltered . We booked for a family of five, two adults, three boys ages 9, 8 & 8. The group was seven adults and our three children for 1... More

As a beginner, I think the beach where they give the lesson is the perfect beach because the waves are not too high, the sand is perfectly soft and you learn in waist deep water. The coaches take the time to explain the basics, you practice on the sand and then in the water. At first I had my doubts... More

Arriving in Noosa I spent the early afternoon learning to surf. Thus was my first proper surf lesson, the instructors were both interactive, friendly and tentative. Not only were you taught the key basics of surfing and getting up in the board but a brief history of the area and how to stay safe in the water. Despite a range... More

Our children were lucky to have the opportunity to have a 2 hour lesson while we were on holiday. From the initial meet to the final result of surfing the waves, it exceeded our expectations. Anthony was kind, patient and great fun. We were shocked how much they learnt on their first lesson

My two children aged 9 and 12 had three lessons (2 hours each) and they had a great time learning to surf. Their instructor Pier was very enthusiastic, patient and encouraging. The waves are consistent and manageable for beginners/children and it was a very positive experience. Highly recommended.

My girlfriend and I didn't book a surf lesson but wanted to do a kayak trip instead. We were picked up and dropped of at our hostel, which was great. We turned out to be the only ones who booked for the afternoon session (1:30-3:30 pm) so we had a sort of private kayak trip! Our instructor was very kind... More

Awesome 2 hours, and just 3 in the group yesterday (as we were split up) it meant more 1 on 1 help. I'd picked up some bad habits from other surf schools, but Anthony was quick to help and was an awesome teacher. Highly recommend doing surf lessons with Merricks Surf School when visiting Noosa! I've been inspired to keep... More

My husband, myself and our 11 year old daughter recently did a two hour surf lesson. It was my daughter and my first time ever with a surf board. The instructors were great, very professional and very patient. They explained everything so well and we all managed to stand up and surf to the shore. It was really worth the... More

My husband and 9 yo daughter each did a 2 hour lesson for $60. They were both complete beginners and stood up in that first lesson! The booking process is very casual - just call Merrick, even just a few hours beforehand, nominate the session time (9am or 1.30pm daily) and give your name. You pay in cash before the... More
