Spent a couple of hours walking around the old gaol, it was worth the visit. I learnt a lot in a short space of time about the first settlements and people in the area. Loved the mannequin that looked a bit like Joanna Lumley.

This was well worth an hour of our time and interesting. The cells were very atmospheric although the dummies were a little basic.

Great insight into early settlement life and penal system. Mix of gaol and historical lifestyle. Daughter was fascinated.

Interesting museum, close to Albany CBD, walking distance from our accommodation. Entry fee was reasonable and friendly greeting at the door by staff member. Other attractions all within walking distance. If you have some spare time make an effort.

Guess this started life as a convict depot Adds to tapestry of wa. Interesting anzac display. Great to see aboriginal people represented in anzac display. The cells and site great for kids to explore. Plenty of things to look at.

Visited on a rainy day. We all liked the gaol, even the children, especially the cells! The museum was also very informative though didn't hold the children's interest for long. The old school house held their interest a bit as it had games outside to try. That is the only interactive part though.

This old Gaol has been very carefully restored and this adds to the charm and interest for tourists. It is a very small prison so doesn't take long to pass through, but it has a very colourful history and some interesting stories about former inmates. If you like such history, it is definitely worth seeing.

I visited the old Gaol in Albany over the Easter weekend with my teenage and young adult children. We went on the night tour. We all found it an extremely interesting and enjoyable experience and highly recommend it when touring Albany. The tour guides John and Joy were lovely and had a great understanding of the history of the Gaol... More
