Fees are invested into ongoing research and conservation efforts and through these efforts we hope to preserve the natural habitat of a wild Australian sea lion colony for generations to come. Our tours are designed to suit a wide variety of visitors - you can stay all day if you want to! There are no enclosures or cages at Seal Bay. Instead, you will be taken into the heart of the colony where our experienced guides will teach you more about these endangered animals. Visitors given a unique insight into how these endangered animals fish, surf, rest, interact with their pups and defend their territory. If you prefer, you can set your own pace on the wheelchair accessible 300 metre boardwalk which meanders through the dunes to a number of viewing platforms. « less

Never been so close to a seal before and most importantly...no glass and fence in between. It was like only a meter away and the weather so nice that the seal just gave us a glance then continued its sun bath. There were so many seals lay on the beach and bushes nearby, enjoying themselves. Some seals just finished swimming/hunting... More

Do not miss this tour! If there is any way to get there, do it! The ranger took a small group of us on a path and boardwalk, past seals nesting in the bushes. Then we walked along the beach, just about twenty feet from seals that were sunning themselves, play fighting, calling for their mothers, and swimming. It was... More

Went on both the guided tour and the boardwalk. The guided tour really got us up close and we were able to observe the seal behavior, see many babies, etc... - there is not much cuter than a baby seal! The guide also taught us many things about the seals life and the area. We then went on the boardwalk... More

We bought a Kangaroo Island pass for. $68 which included admission to the guided beach walk as well as the other parks, like the flinders chase national park and the Kelly cave. You can pick one up at the first park you visit or from the natural resources office at Kingscote. It is valid for 12 months, so meant during... More

I have been to Seal Bay twice now and have enjoyed it both times. The first time I went was in July 2013 with my family of 5 (including me). We payed for the self- guided tour along the boardwalk, as it was quite a bit cheaper for the five of us than the guided tour. It was a nice... More

The entrance fee is a bit pricey but when you see the seals you know it is worth it. The seals are sooo amazing, We got to see some baby seals surf the wave, they were very cute. The guides are very knowledgeable and it was such pleasure to hear about the seals. We thougt the tour could have lasted... More

We went on the guided tour and it was very interesting. The guide was very knowledgeable and passionate. We found the cost of entry was a bit on the steep side for a family ticket but we would visit again.

Such a unique experience, to walk so close to the seals, learn about their habits, and observe their interactions with each other. We could have stayed for hours! Thank you Gaynor, and Exceptional Kangaroo Island tours - for a spectacular day!
