I choose to visit the Blue Mountains on a day trip from Sydney without using a tour. I took the train from Sydney's Central Station to Katoomba. The train trip takes about two hours. The train has four cars (which I think is standard, at least for this time of year) of which the first and last cars are "quiet"... More

We spent lots of time on the bus with three different drivers and all of them were fantastic. Very helpful with making the most of the attractions, what to see, when and even how to see as much as possible in the shortest time.

We went to Katoomba on Wednesday 2 July 2014. We hoped on the bus at the beginning and went to the Adventure area where the railway was, the cable car and skylink. All of which were good. We then waited at bus stop number 10 but no bus turned up, at all. We checked and re-checked the timetable and we... More

This is an excellent way to see the Blue Mountains, especially when the weather is too uncomfortable to be able to do a lot of walking. It drives by all the major attractions, and stops long enough to be able to take photos. The drivers are excellent and provide a good commentary. Most of the time it is a half hourly... More

Hi JJ1212, Thanks so much for your review and comments and I am glad you had a great day. Yes we certainly have had some colder days now being the middle on winter - but I hope you also managed to try one of the warm hot chocolates around the circuit? Thanks again for your comments Jason More

We really enjoyed the explorer bus which is an attraction in it's own right. The drivers were helpful, friendly and did a good commentary. The bus goes to all major attractions and some hotels. The ticket is actually a very useful guide book and map. The bus only travels in one direction. Make sure you don't miss the last bus.

Jimmie & Dave were the best! made us feel very welcome with a great sense of humour and full of info. We felt like friends rather than passengers. We would tour the blue mountains again. As another passenger said we would do it again just to hear Jimmie talk. Fantastic, Thanks guys

This tour bus gives great value for the money. The drivers engage you with great information and the route drops you off at various locations. You visit the site and return to the stop to go to another location. Jimmie is a great guide and it is almost worth sitting on the bus to hear him talk. The buses circulate... More

We decided to not hire a car for our six day stay in Katoomba and found the Explorer Bus meant we weren't disadvantaged at all in our endeavors to get around all the sights to see in the area. Thanks to Jimmy, David, Damien and Garth, our drivers at different times and days during out stay.

Hi Judith C, So glad you enjoyed your visit to the Blue Mountains, have you been on the Red Decker company hop on hop off bus in Hobart - worth riding as well on a day off even though in your home town. Glad you did not hire a car and found it more relaxing. Welcome back anytime Regards, Jason More

*) The Explorer bus stops are pretty easy to locate, as they are well-signed, and the drivers tell you where to go and what to look for. *) The Buses run in loops. *) The drivers are helpful, punctual and informative. *) Although expensive, but very convenient. *) Try to sit in front of the upper deck for better views....
