Went to Reefworld from Hamilton Island. It's a 2hr boat trip to Hardy Reef - 1hr of which is pretty rough. If you get motion sickness at all I highly recommend taking some tablets before heading off. For those who did get sick on the boat the staff were really good and really looked after them. The reef itself was... more

for anyone thinking of doing a reefsleep with Fantasea, DO NOT expect it to be as luxury as it describes in their brochure. first of all the accomondation does not have an ensuite, you basically use the public change room once day trippers get off board. the room is tiny and noisy and worn-out. food is VERY average, skinny oysters,... more

Dear Stephanie, Thank you for joining us on our award winning Reefsleep experience judged winner of ‘Unique Accommodation’ in the 2009 Queensland Tourism Awards. This unique experience (only available to a maximum of 6 people a night) is marketed as an exclusive overnight stay on the Great Barrier Reef and not as 5 star luxury which you were apparently expecting....

For anyone who has traveled and seen great snorkeling - lots of fish and marine life, and loads of colorful coral - this will surely disappoint. True the boat ride takes 2 hours. True it's choppy and you WILL get sick unless you take the seasick medication (available for $3 on the boat). And true you will be filled with... more

Dear Sir, Thank you for visiting our award winning Reefworld. We were disappointed to hear that your coral viewing experience did not meet your expectations. There are many factors that can influence the colours and volume of fish at the outer reef on a daily basis. High, strong tides with cloudy, windy conditions as we have experienced in the last...

I'd been looking forward to my trip out to Reefworld for a long time - advertised as the premier outer reef snorkling location. The brochures, advertising made it look so good. But how bitterly disappointed I was. I have snorkelled in some wonderful places in north qld & have witnessed how beautiful/colourful & diverse it can be but this was... more

Dear Dan, Thank you for joining us on our award winning cruise to Reefworld. To address the points you mentioned the loss of visible colour in coral can happen if you visit on a high outgoing tide or in poor weather. At this time a lot of white limestone sediment is being suspended in the water by currents or waves,...

We really enjoyed our day trip out to the reef. The boat and pontoon were large and comfortable. Stinger suits and wetsuits were provided at no additional cost. There was plenty of staff. The fish turned up to say hello. There was plenty of food for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. Best of all we came across a hugh... more

Whilst on a trip round Australia my friends and I signed up for the ReefSleep thinking it was a sailing trip round the Whitsundays. We were wrong but it turned out to be even better. Basically, you go out to the reef with at least 100 other people who spend the day snorkling, scuba diving and taking advantage of all... more

Professional service, great location, great snorkeling and good food at the pontoon. What more could you ask for. We had the best time. the trip to the reef took about an hour & a half which was longer than I expected but it was lovely. The staff were dedicated to ensuring you had a great experience for the whole day... more

Had a trip to Reefworld with Fantasea in Mar 2009. The service was first class, including the meal and refreshments (just watch out for the little extras that are not included in the price). Reefworld is impressive and there is more than enough time to do snorkeling and all the reef and fish viewings. We took the optional 10 min... more

What an amazing day! The tour costs about $200 but we combined it with a day trip on the 'Maxi Ragamuffin' which saved us about $70 each. We had a free transfer from our accomodation to Shute Harbour. The catamaran is large with lots of space to sit. There's free tea and coffee, with morning and afternoon tea provided. There... more
