While the shows were good, I felt really bad for the animals. Their enclosures were tiny and dirty. I understand that animals are likely to poo all over the place, but the otter enclosure was DISGUSTING! The rest of the animals just looked bored so I couldn't recommend the place to anyone.

I stayed in Cairns and I was going to do an all-day trip to Hartley's and spend over $100. Instead, I took a public bus to this zoo (about $10) and paid about $30 for zoo admission. This was such a good decision!! First of all, it was just the right amount of time; I spent a few hours and... More

A lovely way to spend your last day in Cairns. The zoo is very well kept and the animals all seem healthy. A good collection of Crocs if you weren't able to see them in the wild. Thoroughly recommended.

We did the Zootastic 5 experience here and did not know what to expect; it was the best trip I have ever been on! We got to play with wombats, feed crocs and cassowaries, hold koalas and much more! The zookeepers give lots of knowledge about each of the animals and experience events such as birds of prey are available... More

A beautiful zoo where you can spend the whole day looking around and seeing most of Australia's native wildlife. Lots of koala''s and wombats and a very good lecture about the both of them. You can watch all the animals being fed their meals and you can stroke them as well.I loved getting my picture taken with a koala for... More

Our family loved this little zoo. Even my teens enjoyed cuddling koalas and being able to be in the pens with kangaroos. The staff is very friendly. A great way to spend an hour or two in the Cairns area.

The zoo seemed tired and requires upgrading. More attention to animal welfare is required. The bird enclosures were small especially for the owls which enjoy a large territory in the wild. The other animals appeared lethargic, even depressed. Their enclosures are also small. Their water looked dirty. We were also concerned by the photo sessions with the koalas which must... More

Hello Sarah, thank you for taking the time to raise your concerns. Cairns Tropical Zoo prides itself on its presentation and staff work hard to present our zoo well to our valued guests. The zoo’s commitment to animal welfare is very, very high with welfare being a core component of each staff members daily work duties. All of our animal’s... More

Plenty of off highway parking for campers and cars. Awesome time with the family looking at a variety of animals and exhibits. Will visit again.

We had a great day out at Cairns Tropical Zoo. Children loved it. Very close encounter of some of the most poisonous reptiles and well of course the crocodiles. Children were running through the bird aviary. Good fun with family.
