Typical Australian zoo. Went there particularly for cuddling the koalas. Entrance fee is a bit over priced.
Part of our Globus tour included having breakfast here at the zoo. There was a nice buffet, & then they brought a koala in to share with us. After breakfast, we saw all kinds of birds, mammals, & reptiles that are indigenous to this northeastern area of Australia...from kangaroos & koalas to kookaburras to cassowaries to crocodiles & more. Best... More
Holding a koala bear was high on the list of our teenage daughter. This is one place you can do that, so our whole family headed over while staying in Palm Cove. I'm not a big fan of zoos, so I can't be enthusiastic, but it was nice enough. Lots of reptiles (we caught the end of the retile show),... More
As part of my Australian holiday I was keen to see the legendary wildlife, preferably somewhere safer than the hotel pool. The Cairns tropical zoo met my aspirations to see Koalas, kangaroos, deadly snakes and Crocodiles. We joined the 2pm feeding which was great, Elvis the 350kg beast was fed by the excellent zookeeper who survived the encounter! We were... More
Went with a friend to this zoo for an afternoon and had a great time. They had all the Australian animals I wanted to see including massive crocs, cute koalas and loads of snakes. Highlights for me were the croc show with a very knowledgable guide, and hand feeding the kangaroos. The koalas were also very cute and accessible for... More
After living in Cairns for 13 years, we decided to visit the zoo.. Not an abundance of animals and the enclosures etc seemed to be built on a budget..run down I guess you could say..the restaurant lacked variety.. But the lady cleaning the tables was nice and friendly..maybe after seeing Taronga park and Melbourne Zoo I'm too spoilt..
We visited Cairns Tropical Zoo on our final day of our trip to QLD. We were greeted by a friendly staff member and went on our merry way. We saw all types of animals and the reptile house is a must. We also saw a show about snakes and the safe way to administer first aid when a snake bites.... More
We had been in Australia for several weeks and I hadn't seen a kangaroo, koala or crocodile (the last one from a distance!) We decided to visit Cairns Tropical zoo which although it looks small from the outside holds lots of wonders inside. We started the day helping to feed the pelicans, then saw the interesting bird show. After we... More
the Croc show was hardly a show... it was one chick with a stick and a big croc. My son loved all the other wildlife but the cabby promised him monkeys where are not there! haha
