It's great to visit a zoo where so many of the animals are in habitats, not cages. There are many things to see and do - there are bird, reptile, crocodile and wombat shows, that are fun and informative. My partner got to hold a snake during the reptile show when we visited last, which is a great memory! I... More

I have young kids and they absolutely love all animals, we were exploring the region on our annual holiday and found this place, the location is great as we had just been swimming on the palm beach and stumbled upon this place on the way home! I was very pleased with the shows and how involved the staff were with... More

Being a farmer I am not always interested in Zoos and can't stand to see animals ill treated. The Cairns Tropical Zoo was a little surprise for my wife and I. We decided to just check it out at the end of a day about 3.00 pm to see if we would go back on one of the following days.... More

We were passing through on the way back from a picnic day out at the northern beaches. Our expectations were not overhyped so we were far from disappointed. It is a pleasant environment with enough Australian wildlife to satisfy our needs. We particularly enjoyed the bird enclosures. If you are staying locally you can return for two more visits free... My son wanted to go to the zoo for his 9th birthday, so with him and his 9 week old sister we headed the 2 hour trip to the Cairns Tropical Zoo. My comment would be there is no signs on the highway to lead you there. Wasn't sure i was heading the right way until i looked at google... More

We visited this zoo having previously been to Hartleys Crocodile adventure and the assorted animal attractions at Karunda and as such there wasn't much that was new here however, it is an amazing location. On the plus side the kangaroo feeding enclosure was excellent and the assorted talks on snakes and australian birds very interesting. They have numerous koala displays... More

We're not usually "zoo people," but had a day to kill some time and decided to check it out. We really enjoyed seeing all of the Australian animals that you hear so much about but rarely ever see in real life. Also, we enjoyed their 'hands-on' approach to presenting the animals. It costs extra, but cuddling a Koala is just... More

There's not a lot to see here. It's very small and shabby (other than the croc area). There are only a few enclosures with labels on and hardly any info about the animals. It's certainly no better than the little 'zoo' in Karunda. We could have spent just an hour or so here but hung around for the croc &... More

After a great breakfast at Ellis beach we were looking forward to a full day at the zoo. The day was not at all full and after an hour and a half we were ready to leave. The zoo itself lacked character and the wow factor we hoped we would get from a 'tropical zoo'. Charging $35 p/p is ridiculous... More

Lovely small zoo, not too crowded, with shows on throughout the day. Here, you can see all those animals you have not seen in the wild around Queensland!
