Lake Argyle was created in 1971, by damming the mighty Ord River, forming a storage reservoir to supply one of this country's largest and most ambitious irrigation schemes. What was once "Argyle Downs", a million acre cattle station, is now an immense body of water amid a largely untamed and rugged wildernessin the remote East Kimberley region of Western Australia. Aptly named "Lake Argyle", this majestic waterway can at times encompass an area of more than 2000km2, a volume equivalent to 54 Sydney Harbours. With its ever changing moods and landscapes it has developedinto a unique eco system, home to an amazing array of wildlife. There is no better way to capture all of this outstanding beauty than to take a cruise with Lake Argyle Cruises. We offer a selection of tours catering for the individual traveller as well as large tour groups. Specialisedcharters such as bird watching, bush walking and exploration can be arranged with prior notice.

Lake Argyle Cruises are located just behind the caravan site (who we booked through). My partner and I rented a two-person kayak and paddled around part of Lake Argyle which is absolutely stunning. It was a great way to go exploring and we spotted a freshie in the water and wallabies on the small island in the middle! There were... More

Try the Sunset boat cruise. We were driving around and just happened to see his sign on side of road and decided that we would see if there were any available seats. This was the absolute best decision we made. Couldn't have asked for more. Matt was amazing with his knowledge of the local area and history of the Lake.... More

My family spent the afternoon with Greg on his Lake Argyle Sunset Cruise yesterday and can honestly say it was one of the best afternoons I have ever had. From seeing Rock Wallabies, Freshwater crocs, hundreds of fish, reflections on the lake -wow it was great. We also enjoyed our swimming in the lake and enjoying a glass of sparkly... More

We had the Sunset Cruise recommended to us by other travellers, and fortunately we took their advice. We were picked up at the Lake Argyle Resort for the quick drive down to the jetty. The friendly, and very knowledgeable banter started as soon as the bus did, and continued throughout the cruise. The modern, comfortable boat allowed great views, and... More

The sunset boat tour was an absolute highlight of our 6-weeks-through-WA-holidays. Owner Greg is enthusiastic, friendly, laidback and a source of interesting knowledge. Told us so much about the lake itself, Durack family and the local wildlife. And seriously - bubbles and beer and crackers with dips while swimming in the lake (simultaneously!), could life get any better! Great tour,... More

We took our 2 young children with us on the sunset cruise on lake argyle. We loved every bit of it Greg was very knowledgable and showed us a great afternoon on the lake. The kids were well catered for and were free to move around the boat. Would highly recommend this cruise and your company to anyone wanting something... More

Went on the sunset cruise at Lake Argyle and was not disappointed. Our skipper Greg did an excellent job of narrating the story of this captivating place, pity about some of the rude guests who chose to talk through this. This is such an amazing place and I would recommend this cruise to anyone. The champagne, beer, soft drinks, cheese... More

I love the lilt of the Irish voicing "...to watch the sun go down o'er Galway Bay..." I've not been there and am not likely to now but there are a few magical spots in this great big country I call " home " that I've got to share with someone, and I'd love that someone, to be you. We're... More
