can't believe i hadn't been there before now! it certainly has a wow factor and as an aussie i feel slightly ashamed for not travelling there sooner! i also don't see it as the last time i will go there, i loved it..the olgas were equally if not more impressive. did a helicopter ride for 30 mins and it's so... more

No we did not climb... but enjoyed our time at Ayers Rock just the same. This place is spiritual and moving. We stayed in Alice Springs, rented a car, and drove into the park. Several hours of Australian desert/wildlife was the scenery which builds you for the grand event of the rock. The fees are well worth it and the... more

We went to Uluru after a 4 day stay in Alice Springs ( Vojages Resort - nice, clean and definitely less expensive than any other accommodation in Uluru). We took an independent coach transfer ( AAT Kings) to reach Yulara. Unless you intend to rent a car, that it’s a good chance to view the majestic of the desert landscape.... more

We travelled to Uluru in the second week of November 08. We flew into Alice Springs and decided to hire a car from there. I would definately recommend that you hire your own car to travel to Uluru as it really adds to the experience. Id would advise that you definately hire your car in advance though as we didnt... more

We stayed at the Ayes Rock campsite in the resort just before Xmas 08. We stayed in one of the air conditioned cabins. It was small but suited us. There were 3 adults and I don't think there was space for anymore. It had a little dining table, kitchenette and 2 bedrooms and was clean. The toilet/shower facilities were clean... more

Visited Uluru in October 2008 for an overnight experience. Sunset at Uluru I found quite disappointing as did the rest of the group which we traveled with as we did not experience the changes of color through the rock formation which we expected. We were told by our guides that the cloud formation was not good on that particular night.... more

I spent a few days in Alice Springs in late September/early October 2008, and I took a day trip to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. If you can, I think renting a car in Alice Springs and driving yourself to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park would definitely be ideal - there are places along the way where I would've liked to have... more

We visited the Ayers Rock Voyages Resort for a conference and a few days sightseeing. We took a late afternoon trip to the Olgas by coach, with a walk through the gorge, and an early morning walk around Uluru, both inside the National Park. The scenery is stunning in both cases. Our coach trip to the Olgas was with a... more

Tours are expensive and don't give you the ease of seeing things when you want and not with 20 other crowded tour buses. If you are independent and like the freedom then this self drive is perfect. We flew into Alice then Rented a car from the airport and drove to Uluru. The drive was very easy and interesting. Took... more
