Couldn't resist a drive up to the top of the peak (wife walked most of the way as she is a fitness buff) and was rewarded with a great view - especially a view over Craggy Range winery - where we had dined the evening before. Recommend that you take binoculars with you (if you have any to hand) as... More

A visit to Hawke's Bay is not complete without a trip up the Peak. Whether you drive up - please drive carefully - single car width at many points, or walk up along one of the many tracks the experience will not disappoint. The Peak is a feature of local Maori legend, an iconic landmark while driving around the Bay... More

This is the place to be. Just remember when you get up there that there is two parking areas so dont get discouraged if the bus is at the top and you cant find parking. The other lot is just a few meters away. Can be a bit of an effort for those with respiratory or heart problems so just... More

Being a paraglider pilot I think I must be looking at this place with different eyes than the people who gave it an average review - it is simply stunning. OK, it's not as high as some of the lookouts some are used to in the European alps maybe, but it is practically a 360 degree view of this part... More

The Te Mata Peak deserves its high ratings. On a clear day, there are superb 360-degree views of the surrounding countryside and coast - See the photos from previous reviewers. We were fortunate to see a paraglider preparing his gear, then launching himself effortlessly into the wind, then circling to find a friendly thermal to lift him through the clouds.... More

Was recommended to come up here by several locals. We weren't disappointed! What an awesome view of Hawke's Bay! Was told on avert clear day we could see Mt Ruapehu too. Took a little while to drive all the way up to the peak but definitely worth it. Just be careful when going up as most of the drive is... More

Gorgeous view of the Hawkes Bay - plenty of trails to get as active (or not!) as you're in the mood for. Breathtaking!

Walk various tracks here 4 x a week. Love the variety of trails and challenging tracks and birdlife. Noticed lots of dog owners don't pick up after their dogs recently which is a real shame as it isn't pleasant! The trust does a great job maintaining the park.
