An excellent example of early life in Stoke, the rooms are furnished appropriately, lovely gardens and warm welcome by staff.

My granddaughter came with me to visit Broadgreen House as she has developed an interest in old houses. After a lovely welcome from the two volunteers one of them accompanied us to the house as a guide. I saw lots of things from my childhood such as butter pats, the old copper for the laundry and iron bedsteads to name... More

A very interesting house to visit with lots of historical items to see and learn about. Our lovely guide Bev was very informative and gave us a personal tour of the house pointing out items of interest and giving us details of the families that had lived in the house. The house is very well cared for and all the... More

The historic house is some 8km from Nelson city centre but easy to find wth a GPS. Entry fee is $4 NZD per adult which is more than reasonable (a cup of coffee would cost $4.50 here). We were given a full tour of the house by the most friendly guide, Brian. One could learn much about the history of... More

We had the most interesting visit to Broadgreen house. On the day we visited there were three of us and we had a very lovely lady take us through this lovely old grand home, the guide was very informative as we were guided through from one room to another, while telling us about all the family history of the two... We returned for a second visit to Broadgreen, this time with a 7 year old who had already shown disinterest in museums. But Broadgreen was a hit, mainly due to our guide who made the tour child-appropriate and lots of fun. We enjoyed exploring the rooms, imaginging which bedroom we would have as our own and also trying on a... More

One of the best colonial houses I have ever visited in my 70 years. Beautifully and authentically displayed with an excellent commentary. A credit to the Nelson council and volunteers. Too wet to view the garden. The bluebells were out and the roses in bud.

We visited Broadgreen at the Easter Quilt Show and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The house is stuffed full of interesting furniture and details, all dating from the period though not necessarily original to the house. Plus the period quilts, linens and lacework was exquisite. Our own personal guide took us around, pointing out various objects while telling us about... More
