On a sunny day it was sublime. Platters very good although probably aimed at older and smaller appetites! Service great. Will visit again.

We've visited 11 wineries as part of a tour of Marlborough and Nelson and this one was amongst the best. The wine was exceptional, the setting was stunning, and the host Carmen was by far the most fun and informative host of all the places we visited. It was refreshing to visit a winery that was so relaxed and welcoming.... More

People! !! Time to find the hidden gems. This is it. Slightly off the great taste cycle trail but only a little detour. Easy car ride from nelson. Rustic friendly rural nz. We enjoyed the pinot gris and chardonnay in particular boutique vineyards can be better ! Simple platters served without pretence but honesty and humbly. Take a detour. And... More

We are so pleased that we discovered this wee gem of a winery. Tastings were $5 but free if you purchase wine. We tasted 5 wines and they were all special. I finally discovered a Pinot Gris that I can enjoy. They also produce a few different grape varieties not so common in New Zealand. We didn't order a platter... More

We visited Milcrest estate during a self-guided tour with the Gentle Cycling Company and rank it as the best for both the wines and the hostess of all the vineyards we visited across New Zealand. Definitely include on your itinerary.

We first tried Milcrest's red wines last year and fell in love. Nelson isn't known for Pinot Noir or Syrahs, but these folks are proving that something special is possible. We love taking friends and family out to the cellar door - Terry is so hospitable and makes us feel like he has all the time in the world.

If looking for somewhere a bit different from a hotel, then this is the place. Great hosts and great rooms. Beautiful and peaceful. Tried the cycling around a few wineries which was cool, but found Terry at Milcrest knowledgeable and their wines were great. Will be back. If just after some wine knowledge on your journey best place to stop.

By far my most favorite Sauvignon Blanc of all the ones tasted in and around Nelson (and there were quite a few...)

I visited on a Bay Tours wine tasting day. Terry was hugely informative on the wine making process and how he made his particular wines. 2010 Syrah was a winner. No obligation ot buy - friendly banter and a huge cute dog to play with.
