Anyone who enjoys old theatres would enjoy exploring this old gem. If you happen to be in the neighbourhood, stop by and check it out!
Tried to contact to inquire about a booking, however this wasn't possible as they didn't or wouldn't answer the phone and it diverted to the council phone to be put on hold. Brilliant start. Then we visited the i-site for information to be told yes you can do tours there and they are open. Upon getting that advice eventually which... More
Excellant light disply outside at night, free to veiw the light, lovey to take a photo of, great coffee bar inside, has a booking office so you can catch a show while your there
I haven't been to a show here, but I always go for a coffee when I am in Oamaru, which is often. For the same price as anywhere else, and less than some places, you can relax in a comfortable armchair or sofa in this great building. Excellent service and great coffee.

Beautiful Design.the Oamaru stone is so unique to the town.It lights up at night very clever. The cafe called Sip has great coffee
Clearly the pride and joy of Oamaru's civic culture, the Opera House runs a box office, bar and cafe. Mainstream theatre shows that tend to be on the expensive side give the impression of an under-utilised facility. But if you save up for a special night out, the Opera House will deliver.
As visitors to the region we didn't have the chance to attend a show held here but loved the fact that we were encouraged to wander through this magnificent building to have a look. The Allpress coffee from the cafe within was also very good!
