Stopped in this town for a coffee. One hour later !!!

I stopped in Oamaru as I was feeling tired. I think I said, "Oh my God" 100 times. Stunning old buildings and old time shops. It was just beautiful. I was heading back out when I saw the opera house. Had to stop again. 46 photos later !! Oamaru is a must see.

I work in theatres and concert halls so am always interested in seeing other venues. I was pleasantly surprised that I was allowed to wander round the venue and explore it, going into the auditorium and function/meeting rooms. This isn't normally allowed in UK venues. The staff were really friendly, welcoming and informative. It's a lovely old venue that has... More

We visited Oamaru last week and had coffee and "made that morning" savory scones. Both the coffee and the scones were outstanding. The service too was excellent and we appreciated the chance to look through the building. Wonderful restoration job and recommend stopping by for coffee etc.

We walked inside to see the building and were allowed to visit all the rooms by our own. It is a beautiful building and the staff at the reception is very friendly. Thanks for the free postcards.

Anyone who enjoys old theatres would enjoy exploring this old gem. If you happen to be in the neighbourhood, stop by and check it out!

Tried to contact to inquire about a booking, however this wasn't possible as they didn't or wouldn't answer the phone and it diverted to the council phone to be put on hold. Brilliant start. Then we visited the i-site for information to be told yes you can do tours there and they are open. Upon getting that advice eventually which... More

I haven't been to a show here, but I always go for a coffee when I am in Oamaru, which is often. For the same price as anywhere else, and less than some places, you can relax in a comfortable armchair or sofa in this great building. Excellent service and great coffee.

Went to a couple of shows here last year - fabulous building, beautifully restored. Worth leaving your seat at half-time to admire the architectural details and to get a yummy treat!
