Great little shop

We are a small group tour operator in Scotland and love to include whisky distilleries on our tours. We really love single malts and have quite a collection so we thought it would be great fun to visit a whisky shop in New Zealand. No fun here! We barely received a grunt from the woman at the front desk and... More

My fiancé loves whisky so we stopped here during our visit at the Victorian precinct. The shop itself is very quaint and set up well with leather armchairs and comfy seats and tables. The man who was running it was quite informative about the whisky on offer and you could tell he was passionate about it which made the whole... More

The only New Zealand made whiskey. The small shop is charming and the staff are well informed. We had a whiskey tasting and were made to feel very welcome. The staff weren't pretentious and we felt we could ask "silly" questions. Just visiting to discover the unique history of the whiskey is worthwhile.

A pleasant afternoon spent sampling a variety of New Zealand whiskeys. Some very unique, and limited stock. A great way to finish a walk around the old Victorian precinct. Anyone who fancies themselves as a whiskey connoisseur, this is a must do!

What a pleasure to taste wonderful whisky in the restored harbour area of Oamaru! There are a few choices and price ranges for tasting various aged whisky. The taste master was extremely knowledgeable about the whisky and Oamaru history. We were more than happy with our tastings and bought a small bottle to take home to Australia.

Just letting people know this place closes at 4:30pm not 5pm as advertised on their website and any promotional material we saw. We missed the whisky tasting because of this but will just have to visit Oamaru again!

We tasted two flights of whisky here. So it was an overall of 8 tasting glasses, which was more than enough. The whiskys themselves were really nice, tasteful and had different styles. The only thing we did not like so much was, that there was no tour in the cellars themselves anymore. And the woman who served us was not... More

Kay and the team at The NZ Whisky Co. are not only knowledgeable about whisky and the history of the company, but also very friendly. They take the time to explain the different whiskies and ensure you find a dram that suits your palate. I don't know that much about whisky and really appreciated not being rushed. Pity we couldn't... More
