Freedom III is a comfortable 58ft power catamaran which operates ¾ day whale watch cruises from the Great Sandy Straits Marina in Urangan Harbour. Departing at 9:30 and returning at 3pm allows you plenty of time with the awe-inspiring humpback whales in Platypus Bay. The cruise along pristine Fraser Island’s western beaches can offer sightings of dingoes, schooling fish and numerous sea birds. Expert commentary by our knowledgeable skipper will keep you entertained as well as DVD’s on the plasma TV. Colouring activities and soft toys will keep the children amused and if they are tired we have 3 double beds. Home-baked morning tea, tropical buffet lunch as well as fruit and cheese platters for the return trip are all included as well as tea, coffee, water and soft drinks all day. With maximum passenger numbers of 45 and three levels of viewing your whale watch experience will be memorable, informative and uncrowded.

We had an absolute ball. Chris and Keith went out of there way to chase the whales and give us the best experience. The boat was extremely roomy with plenty of space for the 40 odd people with us. Gotta say the food that was served up was also excellent. Great home made scones and profiteroles. Plus lovely lunch. Definitely... More

An all day trip that was great value for money. Boat captain Keith was engaging, knowledgeable and aiming to please everyone on board. Crew Bill and Chris were also very helpful and there was an abundance of food and drinks. Boat is comfortable and perfectly suited for the day trip. We were taken to the Northern tip of Fraser Island... More

We went on this excursion last week. While it is supposed to run from 9.30am-3.30pm it really is a full day one. If whales are still around the boat at 3.30 the Captain stays for longer; we didn't get back to shore until 4.30, what a treat. The Captain and crew are friendly, helpful and extremely good at their jobs.... More

Had a wonderful day on Freedom three. The host and Captain Keith was so knowable and funny. He gave us lots of information throughout the day without overdoing it all at once. The crew, Billy and Chris were great, keeping us fed, chatting and helping to locate the whales. We saw about 12 whales, eight of which came right up... More

Hired Freedom 3 for three days and had the best fishing, whale watching and dolphin viewing ever. Absolutely an amazing three days. Terrific skipper and deckie that provided everything we needed and tried so hard to please us all. Top job Keith!

Fantastic day, great boat, not too big, good food, captain was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and although not a lot of whales around as early in the season, went out of his way to find a pod that were amazing as they interacted with the boat. Highly recommend this company

Best Whale watching cruise by far! Freedom iii were fantastic, Great staff , very friendly and the food was delicious. I was a little worried going early into the season but I highly recommend it as it was an awesome day. We saw plenty of whales breaching and they came up really close. They only take a small group of... More
