Freedom III is a comfortable 58ft power catamaran which operates ¾ day whale watch cruises from the Great Sandy Straits Marina in Urangan Harbour. Departing at 9:30 and returning after 3:30pm allows you plenty of time with the awe-inspiring humpback whales in Platypus Bay. The cruise along pristine Fraser Island’s western beaches can offer sightings of dingoes, schooling fish and numerous sea birds. Expert commentary by our knowledgeable skipper will keep you entertained as well as DVD’s on the plasma TV. Colouring activities and soft toys will keep the children amused and if they are tired we have 3 double beds. Home-baked morning tea, tropical buffet lunch as well as fruit and cheese platters for the return trip are all included as well as tea, coffee, water and soft drinks all day. With maximum passenger numbers of 45 and three levels of viewing your whale watch experience will be memorable, informative and uncrowded.

Outside of whale season Freedom III is available for offshore fishing charters for up to 10 guests. These trips are usually for 3 days and 3 nights and fish the abundant waters off Fraser Island and the Southern Great Barrier Reef. Get a group together for some great fishing action.

The month of November is great for sportsfishing in Hervey Bay with the migrating juvenile black marlin visiting these waters. We work in Conjunction with Hervey Bay Fly and Sportfishing to provide Mothershipping for his groups of guests.

Freedom III can also be hired for private day charters or overnight trips on the Great Sandy Strait. Your choice of activities: fishing, boom-netting, swimming, sight-seeing and cruising the sheltered waterways between Fraser Island and the Mainland.

We had an excellent day out with Freedom Whale Watch. The crew were very informative and couldn't do enough to help. The boat was of a very good standard & the selection of food and drinks throughout the day was excellent. We saw plenty of whales on our visit and the captain made sure that we could get photos and... More

Went on Freedom III in mid October and had a great day. We were told that it was late in the season but I still could not believe the number of whales and calves that we saw. I think there would have been about 20 different ones and although we did not get to see a whale doing a big... More

The food was great (I stuffed my face with profiteroles) , the captin was funny and clearly very passionate about whales. We went on the last day of the season but still saw loads of whales all mothers and calves. There wasn't many passengers on the ship so we didn't have to fight through crowds of people. It was amazing!

Keith and the crew are very considerate of their guests. We were a little late in the season, but Keith wouldn't be deterred from finding as many whales as he could so that his customers got the experience they were hoping for. We stayed out way longer than the advertised return time so that we could see as many as... More

I think we were a little late in the season to get the best out of this day but the staff were efficient and pleasant and did their best to ensure passengers got as much time as possible to see the whales. We saw a few whales but nothing too spectacular if you have seen whales before. The food was... More

Keith, Sue, Louie, Benny and the crew make you feel like part of the family the moment you get picked up. The day on the catamaran was honestly one of the most beautiful moments I've experience so far. All I can say is you really need to book with this crew. I don't want to ruin it by providing spoilers... More

We had a great day out with Freedom, we saw about 6 different sets of mother and calf during the day. They don’t like it when you get close and they dive down for 5 minutes and come back up for about 30 seconds of viewing before diving down again. We saw some whales breaching but too far away. Finally... More

We traveled with 4 kids (aged 14 to 5) and we spent a very pleasant day out at sea. We set out for whale watching and we never stopped until we saw quite a few. Keith was really devoted to show us the best we could get in terms of whales and calves, water acrobatics and jumps and water sprouts.... More

Had an overseas visitor that wanted to go whale watching and of course we picked Freedom Whale Watch again after our previous experience with them. Although it was already the end of the season (7th October 2015), we saw about 25 whales and lots of breaching, tail slapping, spyhopping etc. Because all the other operators only offer half day (or...
