When we were researching we were encouraged by the fact that whale watching kaikoura were advertising a 98% success rate and saying that any time of year was good for viewing whales, particularly the sperm whale. When we entered the office we noticed that the office was advertising a 95% success rate which I found a little frustrating... During our... More

We were unfortunately part of the unlucky 5% not to see any whales (that's nature for you) but my husband, 9 year old son and I still had the most wonderful flight experience. It was a beautiful day with blue sunny skies and sparkling blue sea but unfortunately no whales or dolphins. The briefing before the flight was also really... More

I had great expectations for seeing a whale after i heard a helicopter had seen a number before we went out. Very small plane but great views from it. Great pilot, very smooth flying and he hung on as long as he could but did not see any whales this time. These are wild animals so there is never a... More

very nice hosts. You might need to wait depending on the number of people available. The aircraft itself is small but it is quite well suited to viewing things in the water. The flight was quiet stable for us and had lesser motion issues than on the boat in the water. The chance to get to see the whole animal... More

One of the best trips I've done in NZ and an awesome way to see the whales. I've done whale watching from a boat before, but I must say, flying is an even better way. Of course you are never sure if you'll see a whale, but from the plane you spot them so fast (much faster than from a... More

Whale watching is one of the must-do´s in New Zealand. There are several options to realize this chance: Boat, Plane, Helicopter. We decided to look after the whales with a plane and are 100% happy with this decision. We saw two sperm whales and lots of dolphins and I also was allowed to steer the plane for a short time.... Was very lucky to be able to spot a whale and thoroughly enjoyed the viewing from the plane! Pilot was nice to enough to fetch me from town and drop me back after the flight. Also got to steer the plane a little bit - exciting! Enjoyed my time with them, highly recommended. Go for the combo!

We considered all options and took this flight with lot of excitement. We did see a sperm whale and dolphin pod too. However, we found the view to be highly superficial. There were lots of Dolphins but were hardly visible. Even the whale looked too small. We had a good pair of binoculars too but it wasn't very helpful as... More

We dropped in by coincidence on our way to the city of Kaikoura. One hour after we were sitting in their plane flying across the ocean. Fortunately there was one whale who was about to descent to show off his back fin. Two boats where down there too... The chances to see a whale are more than 90%. If you... More
