I'm terrified of flying so I wasn't 100% keen on this alternative way to see the whales after our planned boat trip came with a rough sea warning. I reluctantly agreed to have a chat with them and was fully expecting to refuse. I'm so glad I didn't! The pilots were amazing, they let me watch several takeoffs and landings,... More

Me and my boyfriend flew today with "Wings over Whales" and it was fantastic! Really nice and cool stuff, small airplanes and great views. We saw one sperm whale and were flying over it for several minutes until it dived. The pilot was aware of everybody gets good photos. On the way back there were about hundreds of dolphins springing... More

Originally we were due to go on a boat to look for whales however the sea conditions were a little choppy so we managed to book a ride on a small plane. Rather glad we did. Not only did we get the chance to fly low over a couple of sperm whales, we saw a pod of (estimated) 250-300 dolphins.... More

We had a first rate experience in a small plane piloted by a delightful, knowledgeable pilot focused on spotting whales and playing dolphins in the sea below us. We rescheduled our flight from a cloudy afternoon to the next morning, which was sunny and gorgeous. That made for a superb outing.

We took this trip as there was no space on the boat but so glad we did - it was superb. Flight was an experience in itself, but seeing the whales from above was terrific. Had a hike around the peninsula and a picnic afterwards - splendid day in Kaikoura.

We chose this method to see whales as I am not a good sailor and didn't want to spend 3 hours in a boat. The team were very professional and made us feel safe and welcome. You need to know that you will be thrown around a bit. The plane is banked steeply to give passengers on both sides a... More

My husband, I and our three year old daughter, visiting from the Middle East, had a wonderful experience with Wings over Whales. They were professional from the start and incredibly family friendly. The pre-flight talk was informative and all safety aspects were addressed - they even provided baby headsets for my toddler. We saw four Sperm Whales and a large... More
