Probably expected too much of this .6.30 rise for a 7.15 check in. The boat we were on seemed to lurch from one location to another at breakneck speed bouncing over the waves. (That was the exciting bit!) Finally sited a lone male Sperm Whale with its blow hole just above the surface and the rest of it submerged. There... More

I walked in midday without a reservation, they booked me on the next morning's trip and put me on the waiting list for the same day afternoon trips. Got lucky and made it on the 4pm cruise. Very professionally run, nice sized boat. Once you're out on the ocean they let you stand outside. The views of the coast alone... More

Very professional crew and great boat. Unfortunately we couldn't find a whale but at the final part of the cruise, we managed to get to one for a minute or so before it dived. However, the commentary by the crew was fantastic and they did everything they could to locate a whale. We were refunded 80% of the fare but... More

You never know what to expect from nature but it spoiled us: clear sunny skies, calm sees and we got to see 2 Spermwhales... What more can i say? The crew was proffesional and helpful, told us when to get our cameras ready before the whale dove so we could take pictures of the tail going under. All in all... More

Kaikoura itself is truly spectacular, especially on a clear sunny day and the views from the boat are reason enough to go on the whale-watch. The other reason is that it is very professionally run, and I think gave pretty good value with approx 3hrs, of which about 2hrs were out in the boat for a cost of NZ $145... More

Our trip was quite pleasant due to the one resident sperm whale. However, as there is only one Whale Watching provider in Kaikoura, the trip is far too expensive. Comparable trips in Australia and South Africa cost less then 50%, as they have to face competitors. More

High likelihood of seeing a sperm whale, diving a couple of times. We also saw some orca, albatrosses and other birds. Good video on board provides lots of information about whales. More

Most people were sick on our trip - although we warned to take precautions. We did and were okay. We also saw Royal & Wandering Albatross. More
