The lovely short bush walk opening out to a waterfall, the baby seals, the information panels. A must do in Kaikoura. This is magic.

A nice walk through the bush to a magic experience watching baby seals swimming around in a pool underneath a waterfall.. Amazing how they know how to get there from the sea quite a long distance away. Well worth a visit.

This is the second time I have visited the seal pups and I never tire of just watching the antics of these beautiful creatures. You are now not encouraged to walk down on the beach where the mothers are. The walk is beautiful and there are seal pups all along the way if you stand and watch for them. Not... More

There are really not many places you can see so many seal pups so close in the wild! Was absolutely beautiful seeing all the babies playing and a nice walk. We drove 2 hours just to see this and it was absolutely worth it! Plus it's Free! One of the highlights of our entire New Zealand trip!

An absolute MUST....Although there are a few months of the year, the pups have moved on,the 10minute very easy walk is still worth it...A no brainer for not only tourists, but locals as well

The location is about 20 minutes drive from Kaikoura town heading north to Blenheim. The waterfall is about 10 minutes walk from the car park. When we reach the waterfalls, we were surprise to see many baby seals frolicking at the pool at the waterfall. The seals are friendly and they show-off their swimming skills and stunts! A must-do when... More

This walk is a relatively short drive from town. The walk to the waterfall is quick and pleasant; you start to see the seal pups very soon. Getting to the waterfall, there were dozens of pups playing in the water. It was enchanting. Well worth a visit in season.

Situated on the main highway north of Kaikoura (which is a very nice coastal drive) keep an eye out for the people and parked cars as there are a few bends where this is. Got to see the main seal colony on the rocks below the cliffs from viewing platforms and then on the other side of the road the... More

Cracking drive along the coast seeing the mountains and the sea at the same time. On one side of the road you can see adult seals on the rocks, on the other and a short walk up to the waterfall, you can see pups playing around in the water or lurking on the rocks. I saw about 20 whilst I... More

When we heard about the possibility of seeing seal pups at a waterfall we couldn't resist. The grand-daughter absolutely loved the place and it's a joy to be able to go somewhere and see something such as this for free. We weren't there at the height of the seal pup numbers but we still had over a dozen frolicking in... More
