I am really glad I stumbled upon this on Tripadvisor. It was well worth finding it :). It actually not that hard to find it. There were some parked cars, so we knew it was the place. First we saw the big seals on the beach, then we went to the waterfall. It took maybe 5 minutes, not long. And... More

A nice short walk. Not too hard - we had a 4 year old and we were all right. Not too long as well. Better when it rains i suppose or just after because you would see a lot more water.

After a short walk up the track we were presented with a tired seal pup resting on a rock right beside the walkway! A few paces further up the track there was literally a whole pool (at the base of the waterfall) of seal pups showing off their tricks! Well worth the short walk to get there!

Definitely worth stopping for! Really hot but we were rewarded with about 7 little pups and a mother - just great to see them in the wild having so much fun - seal daycare!

Lucky enough to be there after the crowds had left me alone with the seal pups rolling along in the pool seemingly without a care in the world.

The waterfall is just a short walk from the carpark. Easily accessible. We saw 2 seal pups resting among the rocks. In the peak season, we were told that you can see hundreds of them in the waterfall. We were initially a bit disappointed that we only saw 2 but we had a nice surprise on our return. In the... More

In November there are still a handful of pups in the stream but we hear not as many as at other times of the year. The hike is short and beautiful. At the start of the hike we saw two pups playing. At the waterfall there were two more pups but they were up on the rocks sleeping. We stayed... More

We stopped at this area on our way to Kaikoura and glad we did. Parking is on the side of the road and the space available can fit at least a dozen campervans. Once you have parked it is a short 5-10 minute walk to the waterfalls. Along the walk you may see a seal here and there relaxing by... More

we were recommended this stop by a kayak guide in Abel Tasman. So glad he told us! A very short walk from the roadside, follows a stream which leads to seal pups playing at the base of a waterfall. Was such a privilege to be to close to them! Please respect the code and give the pups their space. An... More

This was really cool! If you are passing through or are spending any amount of time in Kaikoura make this on your list of things to do! There weren't many seal pups when we went - about 5, but we managed to follow two of them on their journey back out to the beach to their Mums from the waterfall.... More
