In Kaikoura there is only one Whale Watch Tour operator and it is carefully regulated by the New Zealand ministry. We had 3 good sightings of Sperm Whales, many dolphins, albatross with excellent commentaries and video. A wonderful day!

Kaikoura Marine Tours provides small personal Eco Tours (max 8 people) that are fun, informative and educational. The Eco Tour focus is on Kaikoura’s marine ecosystem and specifically seals, seabirds, and fish. The tour includes seal and albatross viewing as well as a 45 minute ‘fish for your dinner’. This is a fantastic tour for families and the environmentally aware traveller.

A very enjoyable 3 hour tour on Simon's boat to a seal colony, see other bird life and dolphins around the boat, then we did some fishing and caught numerous sea perch, which Simon cleaned and filleted for us to take home for dinner. An added bonus was a stop to empty Simon's cray pots, thus providing the 2 groups...
