At the end of the road. A nice walk with fantastic views. For free so who can complain. Lots of seals in the colony and the sunset view of the mountains is amazing particularly if there are some clouds.

Wonderful spot to observe the seal colony without intruding. They are close enough to spot on the rocks & water below, but also protected from too close contact. And if you're hungry for seafood,Nin's Bin (a converted caravan) is not far away.

the seals are right up close by the car park so if you can't walk far it is a great opportunity to see seals close up.

I think Kaikoura has the best seals colony view in NZ. We always stop at the main road just before reaching Ohau point colony seal from North and found this is the best spot to view them. It's only a few meters away from side of the street. Amazing spot.

We took a drive out to the Kaikoura Peninsula as soon as we arrived in town late afternoon, and saw many seals of all sizes along the beach and walkway. The view from there back across the ocean to the mountains is spectacular. Definitely worth a drive or a walk to enjoy the seals up close and the stunning scenery.

The seal colony was beautiful and one can picture them in their natural habitat. It is just not enough to see them once, i bet you will go back again.

If you want to get up close to seals, definitely stop by Kaikoura to check out the seal colony! We walked there from carpark, took us about 30mins. There were at least 10 fur seals just lying by the water, perfectly poised for pictures. They sit quite close to where people walk, one of them even slept all the way in.... More

It was a miserable afternoon and our plans to kayak with the seals was dampened due to the weather. We decided to visit the seal colony which I must say was alongside the roadway. There weren't many seals the day we visited and the seals we did say looked very sleepy. They were resting on the rocks and were oblivious... More

We were driving from Kaikoura to Picton and just a few Kms on our way we saw a sign on the road that said seals during 4km! We just had to stop and checked it out! It was amazing! There were a lot of them, playing or just resting or even fighting! we took loads of photos and videos..it seemed... More
