I love this gorge - the dazzling contrast of silver rock, turquoise water and rich green trees and ferns. Very manageable walk too for someone with disabilities. love the way people in NZ are so encouraging if they see you have a disability - they really cheer you on! This is one of the places in NZ that I will... More

The walk is mostly paved and the rainforest smelt great! The water was a beautiful blue and the sun was just right for some great photos. You can walk right down to the water but viewer beware. There are mozzies everywhere, they were all over our cameras and even on our jackets. We found them days later in our camper... More

A beautiful little walk, with plenty of free area to explore! It's similar to the well known Blue Pools. Well worth the detour and short walk.

Lovely gorge with stunning clear blue water. It is just a very short walk to the suspension bridge. During the walk, we noticed quite a few tourists stopped at the bridge - why not go a little further and it will lead you the the lookout which provides awesome view too.

Just 20 minutes inland from Hokitika you will be amazed at the beauty of Hokitika Gorge. Once you've parked and taken a short walk to the swing bridge, walk across to the little "beach" and be amazed at the stunning aqua colour of the water. Even on a cloudy day, the views are spectacular.

The color of the water in the gorge can best be described as a deep blue with some touches of turquoise. The gorge is apx. an hour drive from Hokitika, and despite the road being a tad boring, the gorge itself is beautiful. From the car park, it's a 20-minute walk to the gorge itself. Apx. 5 minutes into the... More

This is a beautiful place to visit when you're in Hokitika. It was a miserable rainy, grey day when we were there but we thought we'd head out anyway and see what the fuss was about. It was wonderful! The water is so blue and clear. Great picture opportunities! There's a lovely walk you can take around the gorge, along... More

We made a very quick stop at Hokitika on the way from Paparoa National Park back towards Okarito. The Gorge is beautiful...the blue water was just breathtaking. There is a short walk to a rope bridge over the water, though part of wood trail was under construction when we went in April. My husband stepped over it to go ahead,... More

Beautiful walks that even the kids will find easy- they will certainly like the bridge. Water is deep blue. The drive up is also well worth the time
