We made a very quick stop at Hokitika on the way from Paparoa National Park back towards Okarito. The Gorge is beautiful...the blue water was just breathtaking. There is a short walk to a rope bridge over the water, though part of wood trail was under construction when we went in April. My husband stepped over it to go ahead,... More

Beautiful walks that even the kids will find easy- they will certainly like the bridge. Water is deep blue. The drive up is also well worth the time

I'm not sure that I want to write this review. It might make more people visit and then it would be so special. Seriously if you dont go here you havent seen one of the best and most beautiful spots on the West Coast

Despite the downpour, the Gorge was stunning. My husband and I were passing through Hokitika and decided to drive out. The path is easy to walk to the bridge.

a great look into the real west coast. The water colour is to be seen to be believed, the walkway is well developed. Those with limited mobility should go only to the first lookout.

The track was well made and easy to walk. On the clear blue sky day we visited the scenery was spectacular. The swing bridge gives a great view of the turquoise water. It is well worth continuing to the end of the track to (carefully) explore the rocks. Very cool.

I would show 99% of our visitors that come into the i-site where the Hokitika Gorge is. Spectacular scenery,, amazing turquoise water, bird life in abundance, at the moment lots of wood pigeons. It has to be a must to visit, come in and see us at the information centre and we will show you where to go.

We visited at sunrise and had the place to ourselves. It was so gorgeous. I can't believe the blue of the water, and the orange of the sun rising. It was so peaceful. A really lovely way to start the day.
